okie dokie...we need a serious merge here...looks like there's 3 threads for this series. Search it first everybody. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/movies-television/638149-toy-hunter.html?highlight=Toy+Hunters This one is the oldest and should be used by everybody..'k? http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/movies-television/526738-toy-hunters.html?highlight=Toy+Hunters
Saw the latest Episode, and Jordan first client had a prototype G1 Slag toy that he buy it with the just normal G1 Slag along with Grimlock.
That first guy had a ton of awesome G1 figures.I think I saw a couple Fortress Maximus in the box, along with a bunch of other boxed G1 figures.Too bad they didn't focus more on those.
I watched the Boston one last night, and I could hear my wife rolling her eyes from the other room! The whole time he was digging through bins I'm yelling "look behind you you idiot! Don't you see Fortress Maximus, and Grand/Brave right next to it??" That's like $5-6k worth of toys right there, and he didn't even mention it! On a side note, I totally toygasm'd over the Defiant.....and was that the Flagg in pieces there too?
I catch it every week myself but some of the G1 figures I've seen in some of these peoples houses is amazing. That proto I know would go for much more then he thinks but then again he low balls and he ends up selling it 3 times the amount he paid for it. I do watch just to see what he will have on when it comes on.
My mom is actually hooked on this show also. She likes to watch it to see all the toys that she bought for us when we were kids and how much they're worth today.
This idiot Jordan lost total creditability in last night's episode, where he stated that "Mask was a pre-cursor to Transformers." Really? Mask is released in 1985...TF..1984 and even earlier in Japan. This show is turning out to be more of joke with every new episode. And, he now has a new 'assistant', this is reality TV done at it worse!
Agreed. I still find the host annoying a lot of the time, but i love seeing all the various toys. I do find it funny that he occasionally finds people, searches through their stuff, and then get nothing for it.
Also agree, kinda liked the guy at first, but he wore thin very quickly. Now I like his sidekicks better....the older dude is pretty funny. Guess when he doesn't find 'anything' it's their version of 'filler'
The last show was funny. The whole theme was he was trying to find 80's toys. Then he complains he didn't find any at some homes. What was he smoking? I saw a bunch of 80's stuff there. I guess he meant he didn't find any super valuable 80's toys.
I believe it's already been explained by employees of the channel and show that the entire show is 100% staged. He does not find the actual toys he buys at their homes. They actually hire someone to use their house, put the item there, and then show him finding it and asking to buy it. I believe he buys from actual dealers/collectors. Sometimes big name collectors will allow him to come into their home for a segment, much like the Jurassic Park collector did. Most shows like this are entirely staged. Everything from house hunters to cooking shows.
I was wondering if you guys quit watching this series? Last couple of eps have been very interesting.... he found a Lucky Draw Gold BW Megs and got it for a steal (from the wife of a guy who had worked for Hasbro irrc)... then he went to the UK for a ComicCon and while shopping found a Batman Cape,Cowl and Belt that he wanted $15K US!! It didn't sell so he had to bring it back to the US.
