Not liking the blue, but the gold and sword look great.
Too bad the first one had those useless extras and not the new sword and crown.

    I love the packaging!

I prefer the original Grimmy MP, though.

I think they should have painted the body dark gray to better match the comic colors. The bright silver doesn't look so good.

Too expensive to consider double dipping. The only thing I fancy from this figure is the colored energo sword.

How come the retail price is $140 but online stores are charging $240?

Because the online stores can't directly buy from the site. They have to go through a aftermarket Japanese vendor.

Don't they always go through Asian vendors/distributors on imported stuff?

Would we be able to order from the site? I'd imagine that, even after EMS shipping, the price would still be less then what BBTS is charging.

Buying it for sure. For a while I've been looking at getting another masterpiece Grimlock just to display in dino-mode. Glad I waited.

I'm putting in an order tonight! Looks cool even though I did'nt follow the Marvel comics back when I was a kid.

No they count on allot of English speaking foreigners living in Japan to order for them, especially for event only exclusives. Most of these buyers are here teaching English and they pay their students to stand in line to fill the mass orders.

I'm pretty sure you can only order if you have a Japanese address, some times you even have to verify it. EMS shipping for Grimlock would be about $40 to $50, so yeah it would be allot less.

They go through distributors, yes. But this item isn't being sold through distributors, so the online stores have to buy it for retail cost. A lot of people seem to be missing that point.

Crown is hot, sword is decent, comic style black-substitute blue is bad. I don't want my Predaking blue and not my Grimlock either, even though I'm a comic fan.

    damn the markup...

$140 in japan + 40 to ship is $180, BBTS going to charge close to $100 markup....

guess $50 for the trouble of the japanese helper and $50 to bbts

I really like the vibrant colors on the toy, but am disappointed by the change to the MP box style for this release.

    Regardless, he's preordered!

They have to make a profit, too. Standard dealer target profit is at least 30%, plus you have to take into account that any defective stock they get will be a loss because they can't return it. $140 base price, finders fee to whoever they get it from (let's be miserly and say only $20), plus the cost of shipping (around $30 if they ship by boat), and you have their cost at $190. Add a profit margin to deal with overhead and potential loss and yeah, you're looking at a final import cost to the customer of around $250.

I didn't get MP-8 and am very tempted with this. Probably because this guy doesn't come with silly "moe" (that's what the designer said) accessories and the orange sword looks fantastic.

According to the article, this is the first of "MP Spinoff" series. We can probably expect more MP repaints in pretty boxes depending on the sale of this....

Maybe we can get a Megatron with Predacon battle damage, or a Starscream with Circuit Breaker instead of Archeville.

Pass on this one, since I thought there were 3rd party crowns out there in the works. That's all I really need.
