Grimlock looks amazing, and the rest of the line maintains a nice degree of consistency despite being simplified.

There was a member who started the trend, forgot who it was. I was only putting it in blue so you knew I wasn't serious. Especially since the shitstorm that has resulted from the Bay movie cancellations has put everyone on edge.
However, I do agree with your view of the Dinobots. I never wanted them in the movies, even though I did warm up to them. I just prefer actual vehicles over animals.

This Lockdown toy is a huge visual improvement over the original Deluxe, but I'm happy with my UT version and will (probably) be happier with TFEVO's.

After looking at Crankcase, I think Crowbar looks much nicer imo

Actually, ignoring the kibble, this deluxe's proportions seem to be closer to movie accurate than Peru Kill's. And he should scale great with my voyager evasion Optimus in bot mode.

    Also he's $20 instead of $100

Peru kill's sculpt and refinements are very bland, in fact, it has that square-ish result of UT as most of his figures, so does his upcoming hot rod.

I think the Helicopter is bigger, but the robot mode makes him Beefier.

Somehow, Starscream is a upscaled from his DOTM and well-painted. Hopefully it stays in their final production. and Lockdown looks sexyyyyy!

How else could they have made an accurate figure at these price points though? Car parts gotta go somewhere.

What I do blame them for, is giving Blackout gorilla arms.

    OMG ...OMFG
that blackout, that JAZZ, Megatron, Stinger, Ratchet, 60\'s camaro bee, LOCKDOWN and actual fcking good lockdown deluxe, Crowbar, Brawl
AND AN F*CKING PERFECT MOVIE GRIMLOCK

I think i am actually dead, I must be dreaming becouse that grimlock is perfect....from hasbro.....in 2018!!!

i was so afraid that quality was going to decrease and we would get more simple designs and transformations with hollow plastic like with AOE, RID and the new cyberverse
i thought it was just the reality of more expensive plastic and lack of innovation, but im am so glad this isnt the case for the studio series

so pumped for this line, May primus have mercy on my wallet

Grimlock is the star here. Both modes looks great and the finishing is surprisingly excellent for a mainline figure.

Blackout and Starscream are good too but a little bland paint wise. Probably need some paint wash to bring out their detailing. Megatron and Brawl need better paint. Otherwise, Megs looks great too.

The detail sculpting on Lockdown looks great but the size, transformation etc are a let down.

The line as a whole i impressive.

I might as well have given myself a Purple Nurple from all the times I pinched myself.

    Exactly.

Also, in terms of engineering, it's still just a deluxe. So, comparing him to UT PeruKill as some tend to do, is pretty much absurd.
Besides, that figure suffers heavily from short thigh-long shins syndrome, and the backpack on this Hasbro Lockdown gives him a bit more substantial mass, visually.

I'm no longer interested in the toy myself, buuuut-

The fact that a post-Combiner wars Deluxe can be favorably compared against the $100+ 3P Peru Kill is goddamn amazing.
Even more so when you consider what the previous Lockdown looked like.

Ok, so this was the stuff I was most looking forward too today. And it stole my wallet! Lol

Blackout was always a must buy. Especially at Leader class, and this thing just looks fantastic. Love how close they got with the robot mode, and seeing how massive his copter mode is really seals the deal for me.

Didn't think I was going to be interested at all in Grimlock. The AOE leader is passable, even if I hate the chrome. But yeah, this new design is really well done. Love that they got the dino mode head right, and finally done up in correct, muted colors. Going to be picking him up as well, post haste.

Voyagers: Prime looks awful. But the three 'Cons all look good. Probably passing on Starscream, because the old Leader mold works for me, but this new smaller mold looks really good. Megatron looks amazing! Sign me up, please. Brawl looks nice, but needs paint. Definitely would have preferred a gimmick-free leader for him, but I'll take the Voyager mold.

Bumblebee as the classic camaro, and he doesn't suck? Bought! Stinger looks ok, but maybe wait for a review. Ratchet doesn't look that different from the DOTM mold, probably a pass. Crowbar has no interest for me, but this figure actually looks good. Curious about his backpack. Lockdown is much better than his previous release, but still a total pass. (Also, Peru Kill.)

Jazz. A lot to love. Some minor backpack issues necessitated by his size. But a great adaptation of his HA design in deluxe class. And then they go and ruin it with an Autobot logo on the roof! Probably buying him anyway, he's far and away my second favorite movie design (after Blackout). Really hoping we get an MPM of him, but this will do for now.

So, yeah. Definitely some money spent here.

After the pictures are revealed, my opinion are mixed at best on these Studio series figures.

Grimlock, Blackout, and Jazz looks like they'll be the star of this toyline.

Stinger, Starscream, Crowbar and Lockdown also looks pretty good for what they are, but some of them really needs more paint job (Especially with Stinger's headsculpt, which really needs some more black paint to complete the look).

I'm not too excited for the rest of the figures. Ratchet, Optimus and Brawl looks weird (Not in a good way); Bumblebee looks fine, but the fact that its a reshell of the TLK mold worries me if the figure would suffer for the same QC issues that plagued the TLK version of the mold.
