I wish they would open NYTF to the public. Why is the world's premiere Toy Fair only open to professionals? You'd think it was meant for kids.
Because they aren't trying to impress kids, they're trying to impress investors who will buy into the company and retailers who will buy those toys to sell to the kids. Same reason E3 wasn't public for the longest time.
Should see a fair bit of new this time around, considering we haven't seen or heard of anything past MT wave 1 (<- and nothing from voyagers here) and what we've seen of Prime since Botcon '11. Should be a good showing this year.
Sometimes they have slightly different products on show at the international events too like Australia or the UK for example. And protos or solicitation images sometimes come out before the show even starts.
what I'm expecting prime: all the prototypes to be shown in full color in display cases including ratchet (maybe one or two completely new things) dotm: one or two more waves of movie trilogy stuff. generations: not much maybe one wave that has hoist, trailbreaker, and one or two decepticons. Still curious about arcee hint from botcon 2010 but maybe they were talking about prime acee. foc: one or two figure tease.
I want to know when Runabout would be up for pre order (just joined the TFCC and now I'm good for Runamuk), also if there will be any new Generations molds (Trailbreaker, Shockwave, Blitzwing, Brawn, Huffer, Gears, Constructicons) or Skyquake, Voyager Prime Megatron and FOC Dinobots and Insecticons
What I think we'll see? DOTM Deluxe Soundwave and Wheeljack, HA Soundwave, those Cyberverse playsets that never saw store release (at least I never saw them), and... The deluxe movie prime with the trailer. Also, Generations Sky Shadow and Junkheap. Finally, the preview waves of Transformers Prime. Yep. That's it. MAYBE they'll show the pics from SDCC for the upcoming Prime stuff, but I don't expect much else. I'm not going to keep getting worked up over Leadfoot and Mirage. We'll get them if we get them.
^Probably not, at least to the degree you're anticipating. The point of toyfair is to preview brand new stuff expected for this year in order to make the retailers excited. Skyshadow and Junkheap are already out, so no need to show them. Leadfoot's an exclusive, so they wouldn't advertise it to TRU or Walmart. And so on... This year's will for sure be better than last year's, solely on the basis that this time last year 2/3 of the display had already leaked. We haven't had jack shit leak lately.
Agreed. I anticipate some pleasant surprises for Toyfair. I am puzzled though, that to this point absolutely NOTHING has leaked. What is up with that?? If Hasbro intended to completely shut that down, then I tip my hat to them because mission accomplished. But from what (admittedly) very little I know about that whole scene, is it not pretty much impossible for a large toy manufacturer like Hasbro to totally stop products leaking early....?
I think, to a significant extent the amount of toys leaking early has reduced in the last few years... so maybe they really do have factories on lockdown? Alternatively, maybe they've moved a significant part of production out of China, to say Vietnam?
Me too though I'm more excited for the Prime toys but hey if the movie line includes a leader class Shockwave then it'll be EPIC! C'mon give him a break. It'll make him happy all the same. I'm having a feeling that this year will be GREAT!
My guesses are that we see more Prime toys, and some new Kre-O sets announced. Also, Generations/Reveal the Shield getting axed like its previous counterparts. I'd actually like a Kre-O show to happen. I think it could work.
