Decided to bump this old thread. I thought it would be interesting to re- visit some old themes, see how things change, and whether or not we personally learn anything.

FoC Bruticus has come and gone. We are in the midst of Superion, with Menasaur quickly coming. On the horizon is Devastator, with first glimpses of Defensaur and a likelihood of another Bruticus.

And old habits don't go away either. Case in point: Alpha Bravo. Once again, there are those who wanted Slingshot, and opposition to put them in their place. Alas, Slingshot is on its way despite what many folk would say.

If I walk away from this with anything is that nothing is impossible despite what others- and I guess including HASBRO at times- says. Because I love my licensed VW MP Bumblebee.

    **************************************

    Original post:

I'm gonna take this moment for a personal vindication- for myself and any other forum member who has ever wanted Classics / Generations combiners like Devastator or Bruticus.

And have been told that is can naver happen, lectured, shouted down and at times ridiculed by all the internet experts out there: enjoy your FOC Deluxe combining Combaticons and Bruticus.

Now, HASBRO- about them Constructicons and Aerialbots...

Just proves a lot of people love talking out their asses. I don't buy excuses, conjecture and fake tones of knowledge. I think the vindication is well sought :)

I DO hope that they don't do... what they've done with every individually released combiner ever and hundreds of people wind up with 4/5 of a Bruticus.

I am seriously hoping for a box set.

I do not regret my Crossfire Superion and Bruticus upgrades... but hell to the fucking yes am I so glad to be seeing (hopefully) awesome combiners return to Hasbro. I didn't get into either Hercules nor Giant so now I am suddenly very hopefully for a proper Hasbro Devastator to replace my still sealed Classics Constructicon Devastator.

What I plan on doing with my collection this year in terms of expansion, my girlfriend may be a little pissed with me.

Hasbro flat out told us they couldn't be done due to case assortments and other issues. so no one was talking out their asses.

    Fortunately, things change.

I would think that in this situation, "someone" at Hasbro told us they couldn't be done. But "someone else" at Hasbro just did.

You know what? No. I do not want to see that. It's awesome that we're getting a new real combiner, but I am sick of Constructicons, Combaticons, and Aerialbots. Let's get some Stunticons or Protectobots for a change (or really make my day and give us Technobots). There were a lot of cool combiners in G1 that need updates, not just the jets, military vehicles, and construction equipment.

    Lets see...

    -You're selfish for wanting combiners....

-Combiners are just what you want...

    -No one will buy them...

    -You Geewunners are crybabies....

    -You're not being realistic....

-You should've purchased the Power Core Combiners...

-Buy a giant Bumblebee and "be" happy...

-Third party wallet killers are your only hope at combiners....

LOL it's all right in here....

It's possible that FOC Bruticus could be serving as a litmus test to see how well the combiner gimmick does. If successful, we may see more. But I think they sort of need to go the predictable route with Bruticus first.

I'm happy to be wrong in this case: but don't get used to it.

This is merely a convergence of many different things, call it a "perfect storm" if you will, with Bruticus being a major centrepoint of the game's publicity.

The problems with traditional Combiners are still very much in effect in regards to the retail industry, and I cannot see Hasbro being able to provide such a push in any regular manner.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to get a real Bruticus made of five unique Transformers. I just don't want to see Hasbro get repetitive and follow up with Devastator and/or Superion if this proves to be a success. I want one of the less frequently homaged combiners if they do a second one.
