I love my Animated Voyager Prime, but as several people have mentioned before, his axe looks all wrong.
But on what seem to be the back side of it, there are moulded details reminiscent of those on his other versions' axes. It's just all plain grey. So out with the paints.

I painted all the recessed panelling in silver, and the bounding around these in ultramarine (the closest I had out of the pot to the blue on Prime - and I couldn't be bothered to mix :p ).
I painted the edge of the blades with a bright blue, detailed them with a crackling energy effect in pale blue and white, and washed over the blades with my beloved Pearly Glaze, for that sexy shimmery look.

I'm also doing a couple of little touch-ups on his vehicle mode, but more on that later.

You beat me to it! I don't think most people realize how much untapped potential the unfinished underside of that axe really has. Excellent job!

    Thanks, all. :D

Thanks. Yeah, the axe has a lot of untapped potential, it just needs you to put in a few minutes of painting time to really bring it out.

I had a couple of different ideas as to how best to reflect the glowing blade. The other option I nearly went for was to basecoat the blade silver and wash it with a few coats of transparent blue paint.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you decide to do with yours.

I might not get to mine for a few more weeks (still unpacking from my move). I'll hopefuly get my act together and start painting again soon.

The middle of the axe has a very G1 "Matrix-like" apperance that I want to see if I can bring out while still maintaining the design astetic of the Animated versions axe. It'll eather be really cool, or I'll fail miserably. I'm still itching to take a crack at it though.
