Total HD discs

    kinda cool...but i dont see how it'll help finding a winner (or help at all)...seeing either you get a Blu-Ray player, HD-DVD Player, or a dual Player

    Interesting. I wonder how a single-sided disc that plays on both types of player manages to do that.

    Yeah, I'd be curious to know how they do that, and if it still keeps the security protection of the other formats (which would entice other studios to hop on).

    I'm sure that has something to do with it. I'm just wondering how the incompatible layers are going to not confuse the machine.

    It'll probably look like shit. I haven't been impressed with either, honestly.

    seconded. I'm not gonna be the patsy for some fuckin' format wars. sure as shit, the player I buy will be the one that goes the way of the beta.

    I've read some talk that this isn't a true dual format, and that the HD-DVD portion isn't fully licensed. It can play the discs, but can't utilize some of the features of the format.

    Not sure whether that's speculation or truth, but just thought I'd mention it.

    LG has already announced players that play both formats, both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. No need for the discs to have both formats on them anymore.
