I'd have to agree with you.

From my personal expierences with my own children, the fiction determines what toys they want(and I'm well aware that my expierences don't mean that the rest of the world will be similar).

    June-August?

That's freaking insane. INSANE, I tells you. What the hell? This would make more sense if they were moving back the premiere of Animated as well.

Eh? They're waiting almost eight months after the premier of the series? That's got to be the stupidest move I've seen in awhile. Kids want to see these things on TV and than go and buy them... unless they're trying to intentionally pull a Power Rangers with this...

The premiere might not be getting pushed back, but there's a very, very good reason the rest of the series could be, and thus the toyline as well (since there's enough time for the series airdate to change). Here's a hint: it starts with W.

And ends in "riter's Guild strikes."

That's speculation on my part, but it'd make sense.

Animation isn't covered by the writers guild, at least I don't think it is.

Either way, I'm pretty sure that if they've done the voicework for the series, its already written.

I'm just hoping that maybe here in the UK, we may get Animated toys a little sooner than that. But i'm still waiting to hear something about the show here. *Sigh* Wake me up from hibernation when things start picking up with Animated... *Snore*

It is. Within the Writers Guild there's the Animation Writers Caucus. That above is for motion pictures. TV cartoons aren't a part of IATSE. Also, they may need to stretch out the show, not because this season isn't written, but they have to prepare for future delays and try to decrease those inevitable gaps in future programming. Still sucks. If this stops Storm Hawks too, I'm gonna have to go back to reading books :)

What exactly would be the reason that film animation writers get an exemption, anyway? I couldn't come up with a good enough reason, at least none that would rightfully extend to other writers of some kind as well.

But thanks for explaining it even better Reeds.

I believe David Kaye said that at least 26 episodes have been recorded already - meaning the writing is done for those episodes. Therefore, the writer's strike should have nothing to do with this. I suspect part of it is to milk the movie line even longer.

    ...

The reasoning's not because of the show being directly affected, but all the other affects on television, even Cartoon Network, due to the strikes.

There aren't nearly enough toys to cover the time from now to June, not unless you people want to return to the times of the Energon droughts or even the post-movie empty shelves. I'm sure that's not what Hasbro had in mind either.

Since the Animated line is being delayed, Hasbro is going to probably need to fill it with more repaints in the movie line. I don't think they'd want Transformers off the shelf for 3 months, nor have the same product for that time period. We'll still be getting Robot Heroes which aren't related to movie or animated, but I can't think of what else they could do aside from releasing Classics 2.0 earlier than expected, but I can't imagine the figures are that close to production.

It could be like Chosen said, where Cartoon Network made the decision to move it because other shows didn't get all writing wrapped up in time so fall line-ups may be weak or rife with repeats. Would make sense to me.

I'm pretty sure Season 1 is done. Like, completely. And Season 2 is well under way before the Writer's Strike.

Animated got pushed back to extend the movie line through that time.

The first quarter is dead for toys anyway. Great time of year to focus on repaints. Not so great time to start a new line. I'd say there is still a lot of pent-up demand for movie characters and toys.

bah.. I'm really looking forward to the NEW toys that were coming out soon.. I'm sick of seeing the same toys repainted over and over and over again, especially the movie toys, since I don't like that style of toy design at all. I haven't bought a single one, and never plan to. I do like the G1 Robot Heroes though, I've been picking them up here and there.

but yeah, it sucks that the new Animated toys are being pushed back :(

Interesting about the Animated figures delay. So the show will be out in December-February but the toys won't be out until 4-6 months after that? Doesn't seem to make sense.
