As far as I know, the Leadfoot/Topspin set hasn't shown up anywhere yet. I was wondering though if we knew anything about which Topspin is included? I kind of dig Armored topspin but I really don't want to get it and then end up with two of them because Leadfoot comes with the same figure. Even if we know it's just a regular Blue Topspin (which I have but I can live with two since I've had it for a while).

I'm assuming you're referring to the Target Deluxe two-pack so:

1. Technically, Topspin is supposed to be called Twin Twist this time (going for the G1 reference)
2. No, we have no idea what this Topspin redeco called Twin Twist is supposed to look like. It could be radically different, or it could be the Deluxe with a black stripe down the middle in car mode, or some other barely-different redeco. We've seen Leadfoot (the Takara release, plus I thought the initial pics of the factory toy that was snuck out was the US release with the Target logo, but it's been so long I can't remember) but for whatever reason, we've never seen any kind of photos that show what this Twin Twist will look like. We may not know until it shows up at retail, since Hasbro hasn't released official images to anyone and no listings have shown up on Target's website or anywhere else.

 

I think it would be cool if twintwist was a retool (new head) of topspin with the blue and white color scheme reversed.

That's the thing, none of us honestly knows for sure, though from what previous experiences with slated releases that never came to be, this isn't looking good. It could be delayed, it could be canceled, but until official word comes down from Hasbro/Target/somebody or the damn thing just appears in stores one day, all we can do is guess.

 

At this point, odds are it isn't happening. If you know anywhere to get the Takara version, or even the Hasbro verison, i'd say get on it.

I, too was hoping for the 2 pack and would like to know what is (or is not) happening. Since I am not very fond of deluxe Roadbuster, I am not in a hurry to get Leadfoot from TakTom so I guess I'll wait and see.

 

It's a bit of a catch 22 unfortunately, if Target don't want it anymore, other retailers may not want a TF covered in Target logos (?).


..and i forgot to say, for you variant hunters, it's apparent the Takara version has extra (silver)paint on the shoulders that the Hasbro one does not.

However many they make of the Hasbro one.

 

I have a feeling if we see it at all from hasbro it may look an awful lot like the Takara version.

Although, if they already have the paint aps applied and are sitting somewhere, I don't know what that will mean. Seems very unlikely target will be offering it as an exclusive at this point though.

Leadfoot's loads better than Roadbuster. He's a bit cumbersome, but looks a lot better, feels more solid... honestly I feel Roadbuster is the weakest out of the three by a good margin.

Yes, there's silver on the shoulders and also the head. Looks very nice.

 

Not from what I heard. Hasbro really didn't have anything to say about it last time I asked. But they wasn't really a hint that it was canceled. So I don't know what the fate of the set is at this point.

I think the Black and white Topspin repaint that came out in the US is the same toy they were going to call Twin Twist - which suggests the twin pack is now cancelled.

so I do hope Leadfoot still shows up in a single pack version in 2012 - I was kind of hoping the twin pack would be his usual default colours and then there would be a different sponsor redeco of him later. if the red one comes out as a single card then that puts any repaint into question unless they have enough sense to put it in a future giftset pack.
