Anyone know the sales stats?
I somehow thing it was either Jazz or Sunstreaker due to car style.
Purely guessing, I'd say Bumblebee.
I was thinking of adding him...
Honestly, I have no idea. I think it would be either Jazz or Prowl, personally.
I don't know if you will learn anything from the sales stats seeing as though stores kept selling out of all Transformers in '84. I didn't see a shelf warmer until Snarl came along in Feb. '85. Mirage, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker always seem to go first though.
I'd vote either Jazz, Sideswipe or Bumblebee. I do seem to remember everyone owning those three in my child circles......
Would be interesting to see.
bumblebee all the way
Guessing Jazz. Bumblebee wasn't over exposed and hyped like he is now
Alabama in 84 what I saw a lot of were:
Prowl or Bluestreak (sans roofs)
lot of Jazz and Sideswipes. Bumblebees/Cliffjumpers were tiny and not as cool. I would transform them with their feet sticking out so they were like little bulldozers.
I think the minibots were largely not liked at the beginning. Gobots tended to look better and transformer better.
Now that I think about it, Jazz, Bumblebee and Cliffjumper. Wasn't their high sales the whole reason they survived the movie?
I remember once the show was on, Bumblebee was easily the hardest to find minibot. I could see Cliffjumper selling well since he looks like a red Bumblebee. His face is closer to BB's face on the cartoon compared to BB's toy face.
I'd also say Bumble. The irony...
Cliffjumper was hard to find. so hard for me to find that i had to 'settle' for a yellow Cliffjumper in 85, and then listen to stupid kids who couldn't differentiate mold from color say "no, that's Bumblebee."
I am guessing here too, but i have to agree that back then most of my friends and I had Prowl, Sideswipe, and Jazz.
Deluxe size : jazz, Scout size: bumblebee scout size were cheaper, so kids could buy them with their allowance pretty quick.
I'd guess Bumblebee, Cliffjumper or Cosmos. Everyone I know had the little guys.
Separate names with a comma.
