Hope he's gonna be okay. He's a large part of the reason that show's as entertaining as it is. :(

I don't know the show or the guy - does he have the type of background (ie, race car driving) to be qualified to drive a rocket powered car?

There are 3 presenters for Top Gear and i believe all of them have advanced training for car driving. It would be ridiculous otherwise. They often oull crazy stunts, like racing a Bugatti Veyron from the bottom of France to London, against a 4 man plane.

These guys know what their doing, i'm very sad that things went wrong this time.

They used to do everything at Dunsfold Aerodrome which is like right next to me, but they moved a while back. Wish i'd bothered to attend in person before...

He's luckily now listed as 'serious but stable'.

I love Top Gear and easily rank it in my top five TV shows. Hammond is a talented driver, but accidents will happen, especially with extreme vehicles like jetcars.

That wasn't a floating VW camper he was dealing with there and he just got unlucky.

Pull through Hamster, i'm rooting for you!

to be honest i'm a little dissapointed at the medias outcry of safety on the issue as if there suggesting richard hammond didn't bother taking precautions before sitting in a 300mph car hmm no i think he knew what he was doing

may the force be with him , he needs it, all of it.

They will probably crop the show now the bllody health and safety fanatics. i tihnk its a shame as i don't mean this disrespectfully (top gears my favourite show and hammond my favourite presenter) but shit happens they drive cars at upwards of 150 mph and occasionaly things like this will happen there not fricking accoutants are they

thoughts go ouy to his family :(

Buddy of mine in the UK alerted me to this within seconds of finding out himself. It is very upsetting to me, but I am glad there is progress with his condition.

Top Gear is my favorite show, and I nearly boycotted the Discovery Channel when they stopped showing it here in the States. Lucky for them there is YouTube.com.

Damn, first Steve Irwin and now Richard Hammond. Why can't karma go after someone who deserves it, like those Desperate Housewives bitches?

This is so sad. There is no worse thing on earth than serious brain injury, is there?
