This is me as well. Exactly me, in fact. I use to be a huge fan. At one point I even binge-watched every episode from the beginning of the current run (who else remembers Jason's short-lived stint?). But for me it got to a point where the chemistry among the three was no longer natural and, like all your typical "reality shows", everything practically came off as scripted and all situations obviously set up in advance. IIRC the last episode I saw was the India Special. While I have nothing against the fans who still enjoy it, from a human perspective: Clarkson got what he deserved. Just because what you do for a living is popular and entertains a lot of fans, does not excuse your behaviour and give you a license to overstep society's boundaries <cough*BillCosby*cough>
Ah well, that's me done then. The only reason I ever watched the show was for the three presenters and their antics. I have zero interest in actual car reviews and the guest spot driving the reasonably priced car was regularly dull too and always just some celeb trying to hype their latest project. I hope the three presenters move to a different channel and just do challenges from now on. Doesn't even have to be expensive globe-trotting as I'm sure there's plenty of fun to be had here in Blighty. Bring on 'Not Gear'. Tried to watch the US version. It has none of the spark of the UK version. To me Top Gear is Clarkson, Hammond and May, and to a much lesser extent, The Stig. I believe Sky have already come out and said they don't want Clarkson. He just pushed his luck one too many times and now he's got his punishment. Pity he'd not had a good slap down earlier before it got to this stage and has now led to the death of the show (in its current format).
There's not really that much on TV that I watch apart from TopGear,Wheeler Dealers and any movies that I like. I'm genuinely pissed.
There are 3 shows that are currently in production I watch. Top Gear (RIP), Doctor Who and Star Wars Rebels. That's it. Now there are two
I think Clarkson is an asshole but the show doesn't work without the three of them and especially not him considering he was one the show since it's beginning.
Not exactly. Top Gear started in 1977 and Clarkson didn't join until 1988. The history of the show is actually quite interesting. Believe it or not, Angela Rippon was the first presenter of Top Gear, along with Tom Coyne. Later Noel Edmonds worked on the show too. Clarkson also left the show at one point and then later Top Gear was even cancelled, although returned a year later in a slightly different format and line-up which, apart from swapping Jason Dawe for James May for the second series of the relaunched version, is more or less what we've had ever since.
