The toyline was shit. It completely ignored the legitimately creepy-ass stuff in the books and replaced it with pointless gore. If this is anything like that, it will be the worst movie ever made.

When I first saw the title I got excited and thought it was "The Wizard" with Fred Savage. Now I'm sad.

    Power Glove FTW!

Well. Todd is kinda known for that. I mean I think they only toylines that dont have gore in them made by his company are the sports and soldier figures. I wanna see the film soley to see how bad or good it is. I'm leaning towards the suckage though.

The original Wizard of Oz will always be a timeless classic that transcends every generation and nearly every age group. Remaking it won't make the original any less popular or enjoyable. But if they feel the need to remake the Wizard of Oz, then they have the wrong person behind it, even if he is trying to skew it to an older audience. A property liek this needs someone with a flair for mixing the grand with the subtle, McFarlane has never been one to embrace subtlety.

Based on what little information the article has, it doesn't seem like they are going to go exactly the route of the bondage and gore of those stupid action figures McFarlane put out a few years ago.

I liked the Twisted Land of OZ line, but I don't think a movie is the way to go with Todd's OZ.

If he really must continue on with his vision of Oz then it should be in comic, book, game, or even animated straight to DVD form.

Agreed. I liked his interpretation, but I don't think it would translate well to film. Comic would be the way to do it.

I say comic too because unless he has money to through away the movie will most likely bomb in his face.

    I'm not trying to troll.
I thought they were dumb, but I see no reason to make others think the same.
I like a lot of things that people tell me are dumb.

They tried that; It was called Return To Oz, and it was utterly awful.
If they want someone suited to do this they should get Tim Burton; keep Todd "I overdo EVERYTHING" MacFarlane well away from it.

I don't know, I think Burton overdoes things as well.

Personally, Wizard of Oz seems like one of those movies you just shouldn't touch, as appealing as a remake may seem.

He wants it "closer to a sequel" so Dorothy's old enough to be a big-boobed teen hottie. I'd prefer to see Oz darkened more like the books, yes. However, Dorothy and Toto should stay relatively young and innocent. The dark is never more looming and scary as when children are lost in it. It'll lose a lot of contrast if Dorothy's wearing a red corset and a blindfold.

There was a reason it was called Twisted Land Of Oz, cause it twisted the characters around to the point were they were anti versions of themselves.
