Sorry but I had tell the tale of my pain to those that understand. Finally after nearly 15 years of being part my beast wars collection my Transmetal Megatron broke in two at the waist where he twists. It happened when I went to put him into beast mode for packing for the move our new home. I admit I knew of the gold paint issues and knew it would happen one day but still wish it made it to my new man cave before it did. perhaps I can fix it later down the road and make it whole again. In either case thanks for lending a readers eye and letting me share.

Ugh, that blows, man. I feel ya. I'm up to two TM Megatrons dead. My original from way back and a $10 replacement more recently. However I highly recommend Metals Megatron. He's honestly a bit cooler in colours and the feeling of being able to handle the toy without fear is great.

Also there's no such thing as gold paint issues. Paint can't cause toys to break like that. It's gold plastic, and Megatron doesn't suffer from it. He suffers from what people refer to as brown plastic syndrome, since it's his brown plastic that's weak. His gold plastic is actually very sturdy.

Yeah, don't bother with mending him as he'll just break again. Metals Megs is the way to go.

    Sorry to hear that!

After reading this, I've pretty much lost mine too. I've got a sudden desire to go dig mine out and he'll either break or I'll be afraid to ever touch him again.

I feel for you man. I've only had a hand full of figures break on me though the years, but It's never a good feeling. I have a G2 Slingshot that I'm just waiting for the GPS to claim. I've had him 3 years now and he's still going strong, but I have to admit that I've never transformed him from arm-mode (which is the way that I got him) for fear of having an incomplete G2 Superion.

TM Megatron doesn't actually suffer from GPS though, it's a combination of a mistake in engineering and in poor plastic quality.

I'm glad now that I chose to pick up a Jap version a few years ago. Saves me a lot of grief.

Thanks everone for the kind words. Though talking on here again got me to thinking back to what made me want to go to Botcon 2006 was I was missing only the X-9 from my beast wars figs. But it wasn't until the 2008 Botcon that I finally came across one. That year I relized the hunt was just as much fun as having it. Now I think I have a new quest to finish it once again. So now the fun has just begun. :)

Actually there is nothing wrong with the engineering, Metals Megatron and Armada Predacon don't display the breaking problems, it is purely down to the poor brown plastic, when doing my amalgamation the brown plastic would simply give if tugged.

Armada Predacon is a good susbstitute if you care about the mold but it not being in show colors. He's still fun to look at.

I have a TM Megatron MIB (signed by David Kaye) that I dare not touch. I got a Metals TM Megatron (and Primal in a set) to display on my Megatrons of the eras shelves... He's much better!

Every once in a while I read about this, bust out my TM Megs and transform it to see if he'll finally break. He still hasn't.

I guess it's that time of the year again! *be right back*
