...what paint did you guys use? Was it the miraculous nearly-never-smudge Hasbro paint? Was it regular old Testor's?

I'm just curious. I'd like to know what they supplied y'all with for repainting stuff.

I think the factory stuff needs to be heat-sealed in a factory or something, it's certainly not your regular off-the-shelf paint.

The paints in the class were standard Testors Model Master Acrylics. They are pretty good paints.

I generally prefer Citadel paints for detailwork by brush myself, but Testors MM Acryl is pretty much awesome for airbrushing right from the jar.

Based on the way alcohol dissolves the factory paints, I would guess that the factory is using an acrylic enamel with an alcohol medium, which would also make sense for the extemely fast dry times the factory would desire. Here's some pics from the class!

*********EDIT: Disclaimer: The Inferno and Rumble above are not *mine*. Those are the example figures made from production figures by Shawn Tessman. I did not get pics all through the class due to things becoming a time crunch, unfortunately, but this is how lessons are learned. Since I have experience painting and customizing, these are quite close to my results though, so they do the job. There'll be more pics from the class when I manage to finish sorting through and writing up everything. I have a buttload of pics from throughout the con.*********

Man! That would have been great class to go to!

There was a rumor prior to the Con that the kits were going to be the blue version of SM. That would have made it even better!

    Great pics Sidcutter! :thumb

It was a very positive experience. I would have taken more pics of the "progress" through the class, but two customs was really too much for the slated time. My friend and I were there until 8:30, and others were suposedly as late as 11. There was a point where we were just trying to get done. This is why they only did ONE custom (Inferno) on Thursday.

Yep, the mold for Ramble/Scrapmetal comes with both heads molded on the silver sprue, right next to each other, two of each per sprue since each sprue set is two figures.
