My wonderful girlfriend got me an encore optimus for christmas misb and now I've run into a conundrum... Do I put the stickers on him or leave him the way he is out of the box (all red, blue and silver) I'm not sure I really care for the stickered version Opinions?
I haven't looked to see if there IS a set available, but if Reprolabels makes stickers for Encore Prime, I'd recommend applying those instead. They'll actually STAY on.
Just stick the faction symbols and the silver line that goes over the cab (or are those factory applied?).
Then leave him as it is. You might want to apply the knee stickers, or are those factory applied too?
Honestly? I've applied stickers to every figure I've purchased that came with one.. I even bought a vintage gobot Staks & a Powermaster Prime, found their sticker sheets to be unused and paintstakingly applied every one of them! -There's a sense of accomplishment from properly applying the stickers, getting him to look like he's *supposed* to, not missing details... Plus, there's something about doing it yourself to cement the "This is MINE!" feelings you can get from your toys than by doing something to 'complete' it... -If that makes sense...
I agree. I love putting on the stickers because it makes it "mine." I have the encore Prime and he looks majestic with the stickers. Put them on. The whole process can make you appreciate the figure more.
I put on the knee and toe stickers, and that's it. The autobot symbols are tampoed on, or I'd put those on too.
There are some pretty good opinions here...I think for the time being I'm going to leave him unstickered. The designs just don't read optimus prime to me...sure the box art looks snazzy in all it's 1980's airbrushed glory, but breaking up the red and blue solids just don't sit well with me. I did get a mib g1 jetfire with the stickers applied very poorly, so I'll get a repro set of those and redo them myself and hopefully I'll get the itch to sticker up optimus.
