I recently got a MOSC TM Cheetor. He is awsome, the only problem is that, well, he is MOSC and I cant decide if I should open him. What do you think I should do, open him, just buy another TM Cheetor, keep him sealed, or trade him for a loose TM Cheetor or something else. I cant decide. The card is in superb condition, its the tri logo one, so thats the only reason Im tempted. If it were the US release, I would keep him sealed no questions asked, as he was one of my favorite TFs as a kid. HELP!!!!!!!!!!
He looks good but his tranform is simple and there's not a whole ton of poseability in either mode. He's one of the few I'd advise you to keep in the package.
Rattrap, KEEP IT SEALED. buy a loose one. keep it a few years and sell it for a TON more than you paid
Open it up. Think of it there are so many people on these boards who keep em sealed, there will be enough to buy another, plus tri language packs are never worth it. It is a great toy, enjoy it. You can always get another.
If you can find a loose one cheap, I suggest you do so You are not sure about opening it already, so better be safe than sorry. I personally can't keep anything sealed, though. I buy them to play with. Once I happened to receive some MISB toys I couldn't bring myself to open (they were repaints and I had original), so I just sold them. Only MISB I have is ehobby Orion Pax I am not interested in opening at all. (I didn't buy this one by choice, either)
If it's the only carded BW figure you have, open it. But several of them together looks great on display. It's value won't change significantly with either age or opening.
Damn some of you guys are almost vicsious about opening everything! I'd say open it too though, from what I've seen sealed BW haven't gone up much in price above retail. It'll probably take another 10 years before they do. You could probably get a loose one for cheap, but given the low price of a sealed one I'd say don't bother.
Toys aren't the "investment" they used to be. Where back in the 70's and early 80's no-one cared much about collecting toys...so very few did. That created the scarcity and value associated with older collectible toys. Once Star Wars, Mego Heroes, and such started going for crazy $$$ people came out in DROVES to collect that one line that will allow them to buy a house and put their kids & grandkids through college. It's just not going to happen anymore. Every toy made since 1987 or so certainly exists in mint cards & boxes by the thousands in various stashes. I knew people who bought Beast Wars and newer Star Wars figures by the case just to stash away. In the future that minty supply will probably keep prices low as the ability to find even uber-rare pieces MIB still wont be that hard. If you like the toy, open it. Odds are the value 10 years from now would be worth less than the enjoyment you may get from fiddling with it for the next 10 years.
To me a toy on a card or in a box is no better than just having a picture of said toy. The only real pleasure in owning the toy comes from opening it up and fiddling with it, transforming it, making sweet sweet love to it, whatever floats your boat. I've also never understood the idea of collecting as an "investment." Either YOU want the toy and should open it, or you don't want the toy and shouldn't have bought it in the first place.
