So just a quick question for you guys. Do you ever display your collection in alt mode? If so, which line? For me personally, I am mainly Bot mode. But I think certain lines work better in alt then bot and vice versa: 1- Classics - Bot mode mainly 2- G1 - Alt 3- MP - Either mode works great 4- Alt/BT - Depending on the mold
Always robot mode for me. The one character/figure that might be an exception to that would be any Grimlock since his dino mode is such a big part of him, and that he's remembered/recognised more for his alt mode than his robot mode.
98% of the time it's bot mode for me. For my gen 1 as an example certain ones I like better in alt mode, Hound is in alt mode, the Dinobots are all in alt mode. Sometimes too I will do one in alt mode just cause others of the same mold are already in bot mode, I put ratchet in alt mode and ironhide in bot mode for example.
Alternators are about the only line that I keep in alt mode 95% of the time. But I've also gotten in the bad habit in recent years of buying doubles of figures like Classics so that I can display them in both modes... because I'm OCD like that
Almost my entire collection is displayed in bot mode, but there are exceptions - a few alts are cars, just because. Most of the other exceptions I've made have "beast" alt. modes. Botcon Cindersaur is in alt mode because he just looks way better that way. Several Energon Terrorcons look better that way, as well as Movie Scorponok/Stalker Scorponok.
Bot mode most of the time. Botcon 05 Ratchet & Ironhide stay Vehicle mode most of the time, since thier bot modes EXPLODE spatially speaking.
Prime display = Truck with trailer = Alt mode Alternator = Alt mode all the time. I choose whether or not to tell people if these transforms or not. The rest bot mode.
The only ones I regularly display in alt-mode are those with Beast Alt-modes, and G1 Soundwave. Oh, and Movie Bonecrusher. Beast Alt-modes have a lot more posability than your standard alt-modes, in that they have... some. Depending on the figure, their alt-modes could have a lot more personality (the Seacons come to mind, for example) and comparable posability.
Robot mode all the way for me. The ONLY one I keep in alt mode, is my henkei rodimus with Protector since he's my favorite.
I normally always display mine in bot mode. But with G1 some of their bot modes are friggin terrible. I display the baddies in alt mode. Now lets see how long it takes someone to reply with the obvious "all G1 bots suck" post.
I would do that, but I would rather have a bunch of different characters, rather than 2 of one. And, that would get pricey, or really hard if you only buy at retail
I'm tempted to re-arrange my collection, and mix my G1 with Classics. If I did that I would have my G1 figures in vehicle modes next to the Classics re-interpretations. At the moment it is 99% robot mode.
Mostly bot mode, with a couple exceptions: Alternators - all alt. mode because they are so accurate and l love the reaction when I tell people they actually transform. Classics Seekers - since they are the same mold I have some in bot, some in jet mode. For example, Skywarp is stunning in jet mode. Cyberverse/Legion - these are hands down my "most transformed" figures because they are so easy and fun to just pick up and fiddle with, so at any given time they could be in one mode or another.
I keep my movie deluxe and voyager autobots (including Ultimate OP) in alt mode, mainly cause I already have my HA's and leaders in bot mode, and the movie alt modes look fantastic. Everything else in bot mode.
My default display mode is robot mode. The exceptions that make me display them in alt mode are: -if they fall over too much. If I have to reset them over 3 times, they go into alt mode or storage. -when my case gets too full. I'll mix and match alt/robot mode to fit more in until I get a chance to re-arrange my shelf and store some. -The alt mode is FAR superior. I can't think of the last time I used this exception. -Big bot on a short shelf. I haven't run into this since I moved. My display arrangements have been corrected.
