I agree, DOTM felt like it had a lot more emotion and weight to it.
As for the Optimus/Sentinel parallels, someone on TV Tropes mentioned the Fridge Horror that Sentinel may not have been fully in control of his actions...
Would be cool if they tied DOTM more into the history and said Sentinel was also controlled by Quintessa and he tried to do what OP is now trying for her. To bring Cybertron to Earth. Seems OP is more or less doing exactly what Sentianl was trying to do. So she very well could have been controlling Sentianl as well.
That would be kinda nice somehow but I dunno.I wouldn't say I would like it to go exactly like that because Sentinel was clearly in control of his actions...maybe he was easier to convince than Optimus so she didn't need to control him you know..it would make more sense I guess...
WHAT!? Can I see a link to this
Here's the exact quote, taken from the movie's Nightmare Fuel page:
The Super-Bowl Extended Spot reveals that Optimus believes himself The Atoner, paying for his crimes against his homeworld.Kind of along the lines of Sentinel in the third film. What was it the elder prime said?
Sentinel: You're lucky I didn't kill you. In time, you'll see...
Which brings up the question of Fridge Horror- was Sentinel completely in control of his actions?
And the link: Transformers: The Last Knight / Nightmare Fuel - TV Tropes
Thanks, I'll check it out later!
I just checked it out now... @Beastwarsfan95 did you use a reliable Source? As interesting as this theory sounds, how accurate is TV TROPES?
I wasn't trying to give a de facto explanation of Sentinel's betrayal, I just thought it was an interesting little tidbit of fridge horror, something for you all to think about.
Wait a minute... I remember reading a quote somewhere from one of the producers of The Transformers Movies (can't remember his name) said something about one of the themes of TF5 will focus on. He said that one of the things it will focus on is what the previous 2 Movies (TF3 and TF4) have established and how the events in those Movies have affected the situation the Autobots and Humans are in at TF5.
I might be wrong on this because I got this quote from The RaginNation on YouTube, but I can't remember which Video it was.
It played in front of F&F8, but didn't look as good as it did online. Weird.
Myself, I think that during that expedition that Sam is quoted as saying In rotf, something about a 14th dimension...and limitless energy (I think) I think that's where unicron is hiding from primus and when sentinel found him, unwittingly.... unicron tainted him and possibly even controlled him....just as quintessa may be serving him also. 13 primes all multi versal singularities....so it makes sense unicron would hide somewhere they couldn't all be at the same time.
Although the MAIN HINT....is that if he did recreate who sentinel was......then Leonard nimoy was the perfect person to voice him....after all he was the voice of unicrons first initial recreated transformer....galvatron!
Bay was quoted as saying that it here tying ALL the previous films together into this new one
They played Izzy's girl power trailer at the screening I saw.
I was just saying, now we know more about the movie than we did and yet nobody has a definite reason.
Crossed my mind too. I think i'd like that, Sentinel is already one of the most liked MV characters, and that insight would round out our understanding of him nicely!
Can't find the article where it was directly said that they're tying the previous movies together, BUT THEY DEFINITELY SAID JUST THAT,
but here's an article that says the same thing but worded slightly differently
