It was going to happen eventually but this week IT (2017) knocked Transformers: The Last Knight out of the top 10 for 2017 worldwide box office. 1st TF film not to be in the top 10 at the end of the year.

Who'd a thought Logan and It would out-gross TLK in total box office this year. I'm so disgusted how they've f#%ked up a franchise that was a guaranteed 1 billion at the box office.

I’m surprised it was in the top 10.
But then again it has been a rough year

Yeah. The worst summer in 25 years at the box office, I heard.

You're surprised that Hugh Jackman's last time as Wolverine and a movie that has combination of Stephen King fans, mini-series nostalgia and teenagers liking creepy clowns going for it did better than the FIFTH Transformers movie?

Both of those movies are R-rated though, while Transformers is PG-13, in addition to being part of a series that has consistently made over a billion.
(I understand what you're saying though)

    Yes but you're forgetting something.

    The Transformers movies are garbage.

Very true, but still didn't stop them from making big bucks; the past few times at least.

Even with both Logan and IT way surpassing expectations no one would've thought going into this year that they'd make more $ worldwide than TLK. This was a franchise that was a guaranteed 1 billion at the box office. Instead of continuing that momentum like Fast & Furious this year, the total gross took a huge dive.

I don't think we should be totally shocked. The domestic numbers had been going down so it was really only a matter of time before ticket buyers in other places started say hey I'm tired of the same old stuff as well.

What kind of stands out on the list is Wolf Warrior 2. People like me were considered crazy when we said that Chinese film makers aren't playing around about catching up to Hollywood. They can laser focus on what their domestic market wants instead of having to water things down to fit international taste. With stronger Chinese films for the Chinese ticket buyers to chose from it's going to get harder for Hollywood to just dump their films in China to make up for the lack of US ticket sells.

The only real question in all of this is will weak domestic numbers and weak international numbers be enough to shake up Paramount at last? Do they continue to dig in with no reboots and our producers know what you want better than you do or is this the moment when Paramount say things have to change at last?

Gross, Despicable Me did another billion? Fully undeserved.

Pleasantly surprised that Homecoming did $800 million, haven't been keeping up with the score. It making 600 million is cool. I think Wonder Woman 2 has a shot at making a billion next time if the quality remains top notch, but then I predicted Guardians would make a billion this time.

Pirates' gross makes it clear the tank is tapped. Wondering how The Last Jedi will do. It seemed like it took TFA a bit of a slog to make 2 billion. 1 billion is guaranteed.

Oh, right, right. Poor little Transformers. Couldn't outgross the first film, couldn't crack the top 10.

I guess you can say TLK is floating to the bottom. Also wtf is Wolf Warrior? Sucks that beauty & the beast is at the very top.

    *looks up Wolf Warrior 2*

Oh shit it's one of those completely redonkulous Chinese kung-fu films in the vein of Detective Dee where the plot is bare bones simple but the visuals and choreography are top notch. Also pulling a 70% on Rotten Tomatoes.

As for TF5? Watching it get completely destroyed like this is oh so satisfying. Maybe Paramount might actually learn a lesson, but that's optimism for ya.

You really need to get off your high horse. I'm not saying the original film is one of the best things ever (it rips off Star Wars Episode 5 frankly - just look at Arcee's hair!) but it at least it didn't need to piggyback off humanity for 90% of the film.

And another thing? TFTM blows up Unicron's physical body at the end. The live action films will never have the balls to do that despite threatening it every single film because that would mean actually blowing up Earth, and we all know that's never happening.

(EDIT: Sorry, it's Episode 4: A New Hope, that TFTM follows in the footsteps of, not Ep. 5 ESB. Forgot which one had the first exploding Death Star lol)
