    I'm thinking of getting these

Do you think the 1.2mm bit (or any of them really) would be the right size?

gorgeous color and finish. looks great. but ultimately flawed. guess my expectation for the guy was just too high.

    Three things:
    1. C'mon 3rd parties, give us a non-Headmaster replacement head!
    2. Failing that, would any of the Titan Master figures available at retail for $5 make a good replacement head, so we could at least have a Galvatron with a silver face?
    3. I wonder what the odds are of getting a G1 toy or Marvel UK repaint of this figure are.

I thought the Takara one was G1 toy accurate? I have it, but it seems pretty pale and since I never owned the G1 version, I don't know it it's right. Granted, I think the Takara one is striking, but the deep purple of the Hasbro one is beautiful.

I think he's beautifull. I have been thinking of buying a Hasbro one, but its just such a shame they didnt paint those threads and collar.
They could have painted the actual threads the same color as the big things but having the entire upper body being the same color for the most part just keeps me on the fence even though the Hasbro colours are more accurate overall.

Cross post from the TR appreciation thread. I just got Galvatron during a black friday sale and did a few mods. I tried everything and I'm just not happy with Nucleon's face sculpt, even if I do the entire mask mod. I did modify the collar for fuller rotation while retaining the flip up gimmick though. At this point, I'm just waiting for someone to make a 3rd party head.

I showed a picture of Galvatron's Gradius mode to my friend and Thunderbird 2 happened to be in the background. He asked me if they combined.

Of course not! Decepticons don't like International Rescue!

At first I hated the idea of Galvatron being a Headmaster, given his take on the Nebulons in Rebirth. However, I have come to like the idea of TR as a post-Rebirth line, and his Headmaster is a Cybertronian Titan Master, used to both amplify his already staggering power, and to stabilize his further diminishing mental faculties. This would be at the behest of Cyclonus and the dominance of the Decepticons, given that Rebirth insinuated a coming power struggle between Galvatron and Zarak.

So in essence, Nucleon is a special bot who can manage to stabilize Galvatron, but is a tradeoff in making his unique Unicron-super power amplified and unstable.

This would necessitate the Power Master upgrade for Optimus (and Rodimus IMO) as an arms race to keep up with an overclocked Galvatron.

That's my take on it anyway ^^

My take is that Galvatron died (probably went insane and did something stupid) but his Unicron created body frame was rebuilt as a transtector for other Decepticons to use, hence I am able to plug in Apeface and have him control Galvatron's body as power armor/space vehicle/siege cannon. This elaborate mental story all because Hasbro's Nucleon is so badly detailed and the head gimmick is so flawed.

So I got Galvatron. Yeah I'm not digging the head either. I'm wondering if I'm going to buy one of the fakebuster shapeways heads (the IDW crown), which style should I get if I want to match the purple paint of the Galvatron figure?

I think all the fakebuster heads look even more silly on the toy. They are far too big and they all have the 3D printed texture which doesn't match anything on the toy, even if you go out of your way to perfectly match up the paint.

Personally I just consider all Headmasters to be the character they are meant to be, and have reconfigured their heads to transform so they can either interact with smaller species, or get into smaller spaces easier.

This way Galvatron isn't infected with the "fleshy" disease. :lol

Thanks? I honestly was looking some some input on the fakebuster crowns, but I can't tell if I should get Frosted Ultra Detail, White Strong, Flexible Polished, or White Acrylic G1 IDW crown?

To complete that head canon, There's a spark in the head and a spark in the chest that becomes one when they're connected. If separated however, the spark splits so if one component dies, the character still lives unless the other spark is extinguished. Also, when separated, while they're still the same individual, they can function solo and will act no different then they would if combined, and when they DO recombine, they retain all memories of whatever happened to them when apart.

You definitely have some of the cooler modifications for TF figures. What was the IDW crown material that you bought? Frosted Ultra Detail?

Just painted regular 'ol WSF. If I had to do it over again I'd get FUD.

My son just got Galvatron today and I've avoided reviews for the most parts... but man that face mask sucks! I hope a non-shapeways comes along...

In the meantime, I hope TT does a Marvel Galvatron colored version that I would buy for myself....
