Here are my collected findings for which batches of Hasbro Transformers Titans Return Titan Class Trypticon toys have exhibited issues (tail, hips etc). Please note that some batches appear both in the good and issues list, meaning there is no convenient solution. These are marked with an asterisk. There's more grey than black/white here, unfortunately.

The batch number can be found imprinted on the back of the box, towards the bottom, and is a 5-digit number beginning with a '7'. Here is a pic ("71091"):

Please note, this list is not exhaustive, only what I have been able to compile from the contributed batch numbers.

I understand that the middle three digits indicate the day the toy was produced. Going by that, it seems there was no point at which the issue was actually fixed with it emerging again in later batches. Many speculate that the leg issue is caused by faulty springs. I theorize that these bad springs are mixed with the good ones directly from the supplier and there is no feasible way for them to separate them from the batches assemblers draw from.

I am unaware of a problem with the tail on some? What troubles have people been having with this?

My Tryp is from Batch #71431. His only issues were his warped chest plate and my warped spine after doing all of his decals in one evening.

Thanks for the contributions everyone, have added new ones to the list and seeing that a bunch of you are giving me the same results as others with some batch numbers.

I do hope that in the end, I don't just end up with two identical lists, each batch number on the good and issues list. That would, ultimately, be a pointless resource :p

Wonder if I should start doing a tally for each one...

    All the best

71091 - No issues with chest door or tail (as far as I'm aware.)
One hip wouldn't budge at all, the other one only after using excessive force.

Sorry for the post, I'll probably be ordering Trypticon in the next week or so and want to be able to find this thread again.

    Interesting.

I got two Hasbro Tryps, and mine were like this:

71241: This one had ALL the bads - super-stiff legs, a tail that needed fixing, and a chest door that was strongly warped.
(curious since others with that batch number have reported as good)

71801: Not perfect, but better. Tail good, chest door acceptable if not superb, but the legs were still quite stiff, though a bit better that my other Tryp. One leg was slightly easier to move than the other.

Be careful. This was my batch number and your experience mirrors mine. My tail suddenly went on the day I bought it at TFN, luckily @Rotorstorm was about to administer CTR, the hips on mine were crazy stiff and felt like they were going to wrench the gearing out if forced. I tried to move the legs once but decided sanity to be the better part of valour so we took his hips apart and I stood on each spring for 20 mins in the bar at TF Nation. It made a massive difference. The chest door couldn't budge so when Rotorstorm was attending him it came away and he filed the nubs down a tad to allow it to move. Again if we hadn't done the fix it would no doubt have sheared if put under too much force. All hail Rotorstorm!!!!'' pic shows a day of tail damage. With the repair it holds both tail positions perfectly.

Same batch number as mine, all I had to do was compress the left hip spring for 20 mins and he's right as rain now. Just goes to show that even within same batch there are variances.

I also have the warped chest door.

    All the best

So is it good as is, or did you have to carry out the hip fixes?

I did the 'low end' hip fixes on my second one (trying to compress/weaken the springs instead of cutting anything), but I'm not certain it made much difference, or was truly necessary in the first place)
