    Titans Return Leader Megatron (Shapeways)

    Update September 10th, 2017

    Update

In response to feedback, I did a resculpt of his faceplate to align closer to G1 cartoon appearance.
Also, printed this new piece in Shapeways BHDA material which works *a lot* better.
    Hope you guys enjoy it!

    Hi guys!
I want to show the results of my project to convert Combiner Wars Megatron, update him a little to make
him fit in with the Titans Return line. Due to the scale of the models and how these Titan Master parts are
designed, this took longer than I expected. Sure glad that I'm able to finish it at all.
This endeavor was driven by my desire to give Powermaster Optimus someone to stare daggers with,
since voyager Megatron is not gonna cut it and TR Overlord is still some ways away.

Titan Master / Headmaster with Bucket Seat

    [IMG] [IMG]

First off, I replaced the stock head on the leader figure with a neck socket that any Titan Master can fit in
(friction fit), but that esteemed spot is specially reserved for Master Megatron. He's made from a TM
Nucleon with a new 3D printed faceplate attached.

This new face may look G1-ish and all, but it's based off Megatron's appearance in the Transformers
Devastation video game. In order to have the Titan Master fit into vehicle cockpits while have a head
large enough for leader scale, I elected to separate the helm from the head. Now TM Megatron has a
Bucket Seat that he can sit/stand in, and be positioned on the various 5mm pegs distributed around the tank.

    Calves (Updated December 8th, 2016)

Many thanks to you guys for your comments! After considering your input I was motivated to cook
up a pair of Calves to make his lower legs thicker. He looks so much more proportionate and beefy now.

The fantastic thing is that his Tank mode has so much space for 'weapon storage', plus the convenient
presence of so many gaps and holes that I just had to design an add-on that fits in there.

The under-tank assembly splits into halves and fold down on hinges to lie flat against his lower legs.
    No parts-forming needed!

Feet, Hand Blaster and Titan Master compatibility

I gave Titan Megatron a pair of Mega-Shoes to elevate him and provide him with some anchor tilts.
Even though now he stands much taller, he's actually more stable and poseable than before.
Hopefully he now can stand toe to toe with the likes of MP-10 Optimus.

    [IMG] [IMG]
    [IMG] [IMG]

These Mega-Shoes are placed behind the turret in Tank mode and are held on by his robot mode fists
and are pretty secure. In this configuration, the feet are now Titan Master compatible seats with a few
extra 5mm ports! Inspired by the Action Master play pattern, now my Titan Masters can run, stand and
gun around atop this massive silver tank and mount all sorts of interesting artillery.

    [IMG] [IMG]

Titan Megatron is also given a Hand Blaster that also serves as a Titan Master emplacement. It comes with
5mm pegs on the sides, top and bottom for maximum configurability.

    [IMG] [IMG]

The Blaster can be pegged between the two Feet-Seats in Tank mode to hold the latter securely, while
giving the Blaster the option to swivel up and down. Bucket Seat can be pegged onto the blaster to give
Megatron a strategic view during combat.

    Base Mode
What's a Titans Return figure without a base mode?

The calves flap open in Base mode to give Titan Masters somewhere to stand on and hang out.

Holy Hell...dammit, like it isn't already a pain to find one of these figures for a reasonable price, this stuff is gonna put them in demand ALL OVER AGAIN.

    Damn impressive work.

Love all the extra thought and detail that's gone into making the add-on parts work in both modes. Should be a fully fledged 3P add-on!

This is a really cool idea, but I'm gonna be honest: That faceplate looks constipated. It could just be the lighting, but he looks like he's biting his lower lip. Maybe it's because the lower lip is so flat?

Great work, not a fan of the face but the Houghton process and execution is excellent

Very creative and looks like a lot of neat added TR playability. I really like that the feet attach to tank mode looking better than either of the 3rd party offerings that make him taller.
On the other hand, I can't say I like the face more than the original. Not less either, but I guess about the same. And making him taller at the feet without any parts to bulk up the legs just makes the skinny leg issue a bit worse.
Overall, I think if you added leg-bulking parts that didn't look totally silly in tank mode and a barrel extension that could go on his back for the G1 back barrel look, this would be an even bigger winner.

Now THIS is what I'm talking about! Custom parts that are functional, have a place to go in the other mode, and integrate perfectly into both modes. My desire to get into custom 3D printed parts is entirely because designers don't do this sort of thing nearly enough. Excellent work!

Pretty neat, but I feel the extra height makes his legs skinny now.

I like the way you've attached the very to the hands in tank mode. If only the third party kits did that.

How about repainting this, or another, similar version into the action masters version? It was basically a G1 Megs, with a tank that converted into various flying find and a base mode that other mini figs would interact with?

...i want the feet and muzzle, but, they're so expensive together.

Still, this set is amazing, and if my nucleon was still in one piece, i would probably try to find out how to get a set myself.
