Obviously I have the wrong helmet here, but I'm still tossing about picking up the Toyhax set to add to this. I found myself looking at LG Galvatron even though I don't like his shade. Instead I bought some Tamiya sprays, painter tape, and a cheapo clearance Galv at Wal-Mart. Really happy with how this came out, complete tear-down was SO worth it!

Edit: Finished some belt details, and decided on the mask mod for proportions' sake. Any helmet add-on just makes the head too big.

Gorgeous! That's the kind of purple-indigo I feel like Galvatron should have but one that Hasbro/Takara almost never uses. Always that grape purple with hasbro and some weird lilac with takara that doesn't even look close to accurate. The silver is just icing on top. Are there specific tamiya colors you used to do this?

Why is it that fans always get Galvatron's colors right but Hasbro and Takara never do?

    Great job!

The purple is just Tamiya TS-24 Purple Lacquer, joints/legs are Tamiya light gunmetal, and the silver is silver leaf.

Echoing what's been said above, this color is absolutely perfect and your paintwork is really sharp. Great job.

Added 2 more pics post belt details and mask mod. Think I'm done! Though I'm not sure if he might need a clear coat on some of the silver. Seems easily scratched, downside of lacquer? Hrmm.

Dang that looks good! Hope I can eventually get my Galvi to that level of sweetness. The "tread work" on the back of the arms really stood out to me as what I really liked about this custom. Thanks for sharing.

That shade of purple looks really nice on Galvatron. That, combined with the silver, make this good figure amazing! Great work

Noob question, but did you have to primer first before the tamiya spray? also did you put any kind of clear coat on it?

I didn't primer him. I just washed the parts in soapy water. Haven't done a clear coat, though I might on the silver because it's pretty easy to scratch.
