I decided to paint these little guys to make Broadside's Carrier mode look better and more convincing. I didn't paint Silverbolt because I don't have a brush small enough. Slingshot's wings are red, though inaccurate to the toy, I like it. For whatever reason, I can't stop the paint on Skydive from flaking off, I've reapplied it multiple times, the same thing kept happening so i gave up. I hope you all enjoy my little friends!

I'm planning to either paint them all navy gray like in real life, or Macross/Robotech fighter-like (G1).

What scale (if any) would you say the Aerialbots are here? Could probably find some small scale carrier aircraft at a hobby store to help fill out Broadside's air wing.

    Looks awesome!

If I may, stripping the paint off of Skydive and then roughing him up with so fine sandpaper (or even Scotch Brite would work) would help the paint stop flaking.

Otherwise, though, I love what you've done and I totally agree about the red wings on Slingshot

I've occasionally seen people selling packs of their actual Broadside arielbots on ebay (guess they didn't want them...I'd hate to think it's the alternative, that someone would buy Broadside just to turn around and sell both the Aerialbots and Broadside separate for more bucks).

I'm not sure what the deal is with the so-called "hard, unpaintable plastic", being so unpaintable. I've managed painting several versions of the CW Deadend mold without any problems on those "unpaintable" door/arm sections. I didn't know it was unpaintable until I kept seeing people complain about it or make excuses for Hasbro leaving it an odd color from the rest of the car color.

    Maybe I'm missing something? o_O

How is Alpha Bravo a better toy than the other Superion Jets? How is he a better character than one established through decades more cartoons and comics? How is it a good idea for a team of super-sonic jets to have a helicopter in the group?
I guess its a good thing for the Arealbots to fly to a location a few hundred miles away to join a battle and be one member short, unable to form Superion until about 2 hours later when the helicopter gets there...

Sorry. I don't hate Alpha Bravo or feel everything needs to stay G1 forever but sometimes it seems like now days some people just praise things that deviate from G1 for doing just that, with no other great reason.
The new members in the CW Protectobots and Stunticons were real cool and practical, but I didn't think Alpha Bravo really was so much.
    Opinions though.

So anyway, nice little jets repaints!

Personal preference. I like the idea of having a helicopter. Could've made Slingshot a helicopter. Either way, I prefer the design.

Also I never thought Slingshot had that much character based on the cartoon and comics. Either way, I wasn't around for G1 and it's totally cool if you prefer Slingshot. I just think that people chucking a hissy fit over the inclusion of Alpha Bravo, Offroad and especially Rook is a bit overblown.

I totally agree. I also think its a bit overblown for people to say Alpha Bravo is somehow outright better than a jet arealbot, especially considering you get that same figure in different colors with at least 3 other CW sets anyway.
Like I said, it sounds like people liking something better mostly just because it deviates from G1, whether it makes tons of sense or not. And I know for a fact I have seen people give things extra credit just for changing the original formula or even for annoying "geewunners" as those types condescendingly call them.

It is overblown, just as much as those who are all about the new characters being somehow "superior" to the G1 characters they replaced, is overblown.

Personally, I LIKE BOTH. I'm glad we have new characters to include in the universe and our collections, and that we have more team options (IF we want them). That being said, I do prefer the more G1 group being completed, whether or not I choose to display Superion strictly as G1, or otherwise. Slingshot has history and fans with long time Transformers collectors and fans of Superion and the Aerialbots, but now we also have Alpha Bravo...who ADDS to the group, and can help form Superion if another member needs to be on a mission or alert other Autobots about an attack more quickly.

    For me, it's a win-win.
