Thanks to Ptoys.tk [Patrick's Toys, Metro Manila Philippines] local transfans can avail of these new Titaniums, which arrived tonight. Wildstar of Cybertron Philippines lent me/us these two [i, er, went and got Classics Ramjet and Cliffjumper] to photograph for y'all. forgive my not so mad camera skillz.

anyway, the quickie reviews:

Cheetor's pretty solid, a nice heft and what feels like reasonable weight distribution. As you can see below, the face sculpt is awesome. The only awkward thing is how moving his robot forearms [just up and down elbows, mind] has to move his folded-back beast forelegs. it's like he has long elbow spur things.

Transformation is simple, but effective... flip cat head and neck up [tucking in robot head], turn arms into arms and legs into legs, spin waist around. He has a tail in both modes.

Sadly, the swords are soft plastic and were somewhat warped into a sideways bend by the packaging. They're also somewhat annoying to put on the hip-pegs for beast mode.

I've included some comparisons with TFU Night Slash Cheetor and Titanium Jetfire.

 

The Fallen ['Fallen' only on the packaging] is hefty [and by hefty i also mean back-heavy] and damn evil-looking. It's the most black I've seen on a Transformer in a long time.

The flaming billboards actually come in a separate bubble and can be attached/detached to the back, but do not need to come off for transformation. THey do look like they will pop off and not snap off if the figure is accidentally dropped. I do not, of course, plan to test this.  

Transformation, incidentally, is also simple but effective -- perhaps not as much as Cheetor given the ad-hoc altmode on this one [Don made it look good though]. turn waist, fold legs, fold billboards out into tread housings and wrap around legs, fold arms round back and make them cannon things.

I like how his 'fists' swivel so you can point the would-be fist holes vertically instead of horizontally as he has them packaged.

I don't like that they made Cheetor's rank a 7. I mean if this is Beast Machines Cheetor we are talking about I would have thought his rank would be a 9. Since he was pretty much in charge while Optimus was doing whatever heh. He even removed Primal from command.

Either way I am definitely picking him up!

 

Gah! Nice pictures, but I have an inbuilt resistance to Titaniums after the PRIME release: Doesn't matter how good they eventually become, I've been put off for life!

I really like the bios for both characters. Actually, that's one of the things that I really love about the Titanium line... the bios that they put into these characters are very nicely researched and don't seem as thrown together as many of the mainline bios usually do. It helps with the more collector oriented feel of the line IMO.

My only complaint is that Cheetor's rank seems to contradict the role that even his bio states that he's forced into by Primal's religious fanaticism. Still, perhaps they were going by the rank he considers himself to be at?

The Fallen's bio is very interesting indeed, because I never finished reading WWII and I don't remember if they touched on his actual background at all anyways. I find it interesting that he was a creature of destruction long before he became a Herald of Unicron. So, I guess Primus really is about order huh?

 

The Fallen looks okay; Cheetor, however, looks brilliant.

dude. curious, but is patrick toys regular retail (dept stores) or specialty (import store)?

 

I still can't get over the fact that they colored his eyes/optics red. You'd think they would get it right by now. Other than that I suppose Cheetor's color scheme is pretty accurate.

I'm a bit disappointed in Cheetor, but the Fallen looks great.

Scrap Cheetor, bring on the Vehicons.

 

Oh my God, now I am ABSOLUTELY sure I must get a Cheetor! This sculpt si awesome!

 

They both look great, but I really wish they had used translucent plastic for The Fallen's flames or just kept it at the orange highlights on the lines. It seems that the Titanium line is really hitting its stride. I hope this line continues.

 

GAH! why do we need a cheetor. Heck I can still find him on shelves around here. gimme some figures we've never had before or havn't had in a long time. oh well, Fallen looks interesting.

Also aside from The Fallen and Vector Prime, how many of the other original 13 have we seen over the years?

 

What would people say are the odds of the Fallen being remolded to IDW Megatron?

The remolding would have to be extensive, I realize.
