    I'll admit that I'd probably prefer an all-plastic version made to similar specs as Cybertron or Classics toys, but I won't let that ruin my enjoyment of this thing, as long as the metal isn't the deciding factor on whether it's crap or not.

    I've got to agree. I'd really like to see an upsized/die-castless version in either the Classics line or an upcoming line. His hands look goofy too.

    I believe this was started with dreamwave and their solicitations (I know many stores had things listed as WWI) and not with the general fandom. I suspect you have figured this out, but the abbreviation comes from the War WithIn. I suspect this was done because they liked it more than a 2 letter abbreviation and who knows, maybe someone thought "within" was two words.
