From the makers of such cinematic genius as "Transmorphers," "Snakes on a Train" and "Mega-Shark VS Giant Octopus" The Escapist : News : Titanic 2 Looks So Bad It's ... Terrible
No no no just no. That being said, I never saw the first one, but I have been to the exhibit at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.
They're smart by actually naming the ship Titanic 2, so that they can defend themselves in court. If I were James Cameron, I'd facepalm many times. Instead of stuff like this, they should have put in a bigger budget on Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus. That one had so much potential...
The James Cameron movie? While the first movie was good, not great, it doesn't need a sequel. It was based on an actual historical event, and how do you put a sequel to something like that?
The article says it has nothing to do with Cameron's movie. It's just about a boat called the Titanic 2 that gets built to commemorate the 100th year anniversary of the Titanic's voyage. And in 'Like father, like son' style, the Titanic 2 hits an iceburg. I can't imagine how you'd do a sequel to Cameron's either, so I guess it's good it's not one. I'm still not going to see this movie.....
Ah, my bad. I didn't bother to read the article. So basically SyFy is basically making a modern day version of the Titanic, albeit with CGI a HUGE step down from Cameron's film. In other words a B-movie reusing the plot to Titanic. Though I suppose it's not technically a ripoff, since it was an actual historic event. And even in movie-making, a second Titanic ship is ludicrous.
Sorry, but I try to get my mind around the 'Hey, let's build a NEW Titanic!' premise and all I can come up with is the Space Titanic episode of "Futurama". Which I'm venturing to guess is still going to better than this.
I can see Titanic 2 working as a horror movie. Scavengers find the ship, raise it and discover it's haunted. But other than that, you really can't do a sequel on something like a historically-based movie.
Haha yeah, my friend posted the trailer for this on her Facebook last week, I totally lol'd (because it's just so damn pathetic) The Asylum's at it again. "Titanic 2: What could possibly go wrong?"
Put it in space. Have the Iceberg be a Meteor. And, to fuck with the audience, have it look exactly like the Titanic, except it has giant turbines that are the boosters. Either that, or smoke a bunch of weed and see what happens for the script. BB28 I knew I had the "Space" theme from somewhere!
