Powermaster Optimus Prime was my first Optimus figure so I can't wait for an updated version that isn't a MP scale figure that costs hundreds of dollars.

A bit of a drag that the cab isn't it's own robot, but I can deal. I get that Hasbro is budgeting so they don't have to inflate prices so much. And I don't see why what they chose to call the headmaster matters. You want it to be Hi-Q? Just call him Hi-Q. You want it to be Ginrai? call him Ginrai. There isn't enough detail on it to tell who it is and what does the color scheme really matter?

Well, to each their own and all, but for the price this guy looks like all win to me. Sure a proper powermaster with Apex Bomber would've given him more versatility and all but this is just a retool and we likely wouldn't have gotten him at all if it had to be a new mold.

Yeah, I was having fun with PMOP on my photo backdrop but when I put him on my glass shelves nothing worked. He couldn't hold wide pose without slipping and the panels interfere with him doing the straight pose I have UM in. If you find a solid solution I'd like to see it.

 

I quite liked this figure, there were a lot of shout outs to the original figure such as red hands, a base mode, twin shoulder cannons etc. But I cant help but like Blaster better.

I've come up with an alternative TRPMOP base mode!



I think it's better than the normal base by a fair bit... but then I would say that. Ramps that actually lead somewhere (as opposed to going backwards underneath the towers with no head clearance) the repair bay for Legends is still present (see Wheelie is in there!) and the slot on the PMOP chest can fit other small Titan Master vehicles!

Curious, can the guns slot inside the trailer in alt mode, in case he wants go low profile?

 

If names mean that little to you, Hasbro should just do away with individual names completely and have everyone called "Autobot", "Decepticon", "Maximal", "Predacon", "Vehicon" or "Mini-Con" on the packaging according to their faction and let the fans name them whatever they wish.

Personally though, Apex is Optimus Prime's Headmaster companion while HiQ remains his Powermaster companion in fiction, even though the toy isn't compatible with HiQ.

 

at this point in the TF game I would be totally okay with that, I know what the characters will be called on MY shelf; it's a non issue.

 

I've had Powermaster Prime for a few days now, and I like him! His alt mode is great, and I love all the detail. Only problems I have is his right elbow has the loosest joint I've ever experienced on a TF. Can't hold his arm up, let alone holding a big ass blaster in it. His left hip is also loose. I'm not sure what happened between Mag and Prime, but I don't like it.

But for someone outside the "I had this guy as a kid" camp, I really like this overpowered, over modded Prime!

Still not sold on the Head Masters gimmick. Must have missed that as a kid.

 

Late to the news but that's not a Powermaster. A Headmaster in the box simply doesn't fit the description. Too cheap to throw in a Powermaster? I won't be adding this next to my Powermaster Optimus.

Perhaps off topic but I don't like the trend at HasTak, forcing Optimus/Megatron into other character's molds. Too much sacrifice. Example, Optimus is a repaint of Motormaster, Megatron is a repaint of Blitzwing. I mean OP/Megs are iconic characters, flagship level money makers, and you just gotta show a bit more respect. Optimus and Megatron molds deserve priority, not compromise. Back on topic, repaint of Magnus, no Powermaster, fail.

 

I picked up PMOP this week. He is a surprisingly fun toy.

The only thing I would fix is already being handled by Venksta at Renderform.
I am not fond of the CW:UM weapon re-use.

I like the transformation, and appreciate the significant retooling involved.

I'm already imagining how cool it will look to have Ultra Magnus and PMOP side by side basically

Can a CW Deluxe fit inside this guy's trailer if the chestplate is removed?

 

Is the elbow joint the same as on Magnus? I know the forearms are different but if the upper arms/elbows are the same, it may be missing a ratchet or piece that pushes the detent/ratchet into place. When leader Ultra Magnus was first released, missing pieces for the ratchets were a common problem.
