Wait, the US hasn't got it yet? Why such a large gap?

I think because the character of Tintin has a much larger following overseas, that the studio decided that the film would be released much earlier internationally.

I'm not familiar with the source material myself, but the film looks great, so I'll catch it when it it opens in the states.

I'm form Europe, the film aired pretty much everywhere here since TinTin is a big thing over here. I grew up with the comics myself and am a huge fan.

Trust me the movie is amazing and has THE BEST chase scene I've ever seen in any movie!

It was released in the UK (and I assume the rest of Europe) on October 26th, that's almost a 2 month gap. I've yet to see the film (none of my friends are interested in Tintin) but the trailers and stills that I have seen look absolutely gorgeous

I really hope the movie does well in the US, but I have a fear that it won't...

Come on America, Europe wants a sequel!

TinTin as a comic book franchize isn't popular in the US. It's OOOOOOOOLD as shit man it pre WWII old. The artwork is really simple and cartoony so many people in the US think it's either kiddie or, I hate to use this therm, "gay". And then there the whole "the artwork doesn't suit the adventure tone of the comic" argument...

For example here's a page from one of the comics

So you can see why it never caught on in the US.

Us Euro guys grew up with this thing!

I never read super-heores as a kid so I didn't grew up with Batman or Spider-man or any of those guys, my heroes were TinTin, Asterix & Obelix, Lucky Luke, Iznogud and the rest, and seeing TinTin on the big screen done SO DAMN GOOD was just...a childhood dream come true!

I certanly do hope so, I hope the fact that Jackson, Spielberg, Moffat and Wright are on board will be enough to bring people in to see it if nothing else but for curiosity.

But I also expect a lot of meadia/soccer mom backlash since the movies has guns and even blood in it.

On a more fun note did you know the movie itself is based upon three different stories?

The Secret of the Unicorn, The Crab with the Golden Claws and Red Rackham's Treasure (that page is from this one) and I was amazed how well they combined these really different stories into one!

    Woah.

3 books in one. Now i don't have to do any reading. :p

I wouldn't worry about Soccer Mom's as they are full of s**t and no one honestly cares.

Can't wait for the movie! I read the books as a young child. Such good characterization and Captain Haddock is quite funny.

Hadok and his insane swear words are incredibly funny, and when he get's paired up with god ol' Prof. Calculus the fun never stops!

In the movie itself Hadok was a riot, the whole theatre erupted with laughter almost everytime he was on screen!

    Wow, only 2 pages.

Anyways, tintin proves spielberg still got it, features a william score thats insta classic and pegg n frost are perfect as thompson n thomson. If crystal skull left u bad taste in the mouth this movie should fix it.

Planning on getting it when it comes out on DVD!

I saw the film in New York wiht my sister and let me tell you. It was the best animated film of 2011 period. they really did an amazing job at making a solid storyline out of three of it's books it was based on and the characters are spot on!:D
