Let's clear this up right now. THERE. IS. NO. MISINFORMATION. CAMPAIGN. OK? Bay gave us one piece of misinformation - that he was actively waging a misinformation war. It was just something he said to cover his ass over all the eventual leaks. They are not going to submit fake filming permits to departments, they are not going to give fake casting choices to the press. Do we understand?
It was the simplest yet best ploy. And it was funny how the people here ate it up. Esp the guys who constantly kept harping "But hey fellas, remembah what Mista Bay said? He is gonna spread misinformation! So he knows that what we will know isn't going to really be what he knows is the truth! So since he knows we know now what he said, he knows we won't ever be able to really know!" Its funny to see the people here run circles in their own heads. I can't believe people are so gullible sometimes...
Regardless, there will be a movie prequel or adaptation book available before the film hits screens. It will spill every intimate detail of things leading up to and into the story of the sequel. I think it would be silly to try and "fool" the fans. If they leak info to fan that turns out to be false, people will be disappointed for no real reason. I think it's good to see this kind of progress. It tells me that they are actively shooting from the script... quite a waste of time and money just to try and hide info don't you think? Plus I didn't even know there was a mis-info war... so there.
As much as I'd like to play the misinformation game, Bay is neck deep in the production of a 200 million dollar movie. I doubt he has enough free time to play elaborate games with the fans. However I don't doubt that he'll be pranking us a little bit. For instance, I think the Jazz rumors are BS. If the Pontiac is on set, it's just sitting there to create confusion. But I've been reading posts about people who think EVERYTHING is fake, and everything we've seen up to this point is a charade. If that were the case Dreamworks would fire Michael Bay for screwing around when he's got a release date creeping up on him.
While the whole misinformation debate is amusing, what's life-threateningly hilarious is watching the movie thread and seeing people (A.) nerd out over theories, (B.) post improbable want-lists for TF2, (C.) crank up their pre-movie bitching machines so that when it comes out they can pout and blow their trumpet about how right they were, (D.) hear a true fact about the movie and spin it completely out of proportion. That's the beauty of it, after all, isn't it? Michael Bay doesn't have to spread lies. He can give us a single aspect of the truth, and TransFans will run wild with it, nerding it up with each other, until by the time they're done with it, it bears no resemblance to what will actually be portrayed in the movie. To wit, because there are three Arcee bikes on set, there are fans who actually think there will be Arcee, Elita-1, AND Chromia. No need for misinformation...just let the fandom's over-active imagination take it to another level.

Anything is possible. People should always keep an open mind to avoid being disappointed. There is a possibility that some things that go around the news may not end up in the final cut. Ultimately everything is up to the director. Regardless of what he does some fans will eat it up like candy. Everyone talking about the movie is merely boosting advertising for it. Regardless of what is right ot wrong, the movie is being promoted. That could have been the intentional goal all along.
Yea...This is great entertainment. I like to read people nerding out. I always feel good after reading responses on these forums.
only misinformation would be what he has or hasnt told extras what is going on and dragging unneeded transformer vehicles around to different locations gives him all the information he needs to slow us down. he knows he doesnt have to leak new transformers models or anything this time cos most fans really enjoyed his first movie. he has us right where he wants us. wanting him to get his new movie out. now if we could only stop Coolyfett quoting Wheelie all would be normal with this world. vagely.
