Anybody else here ever see the original Frankenweenie from 1984?

The new movie looks awesome though. I appreciate stop motion, and it's got some awesome homages to the classic monster movies. Also, Gamera!!

I'm not a big fan of Tim Burton. I can't even get into his critically acclaimed ones. My favorite Tim Burton movie is the 1989 Batman movie because his style didn't quite take over the movie and it worked for that interpretation of Batman. The reviews I've heard so far have said that if you like Tim Burton's older films, then you will probably like this one.

Homage to Gamera, not the real Gamera.

I'm also interested in seeing stop-motion get used in a modern film.

Also there is a homage to each of the universal classic monsters, in pet form.

I have the original short movie, live action. Quite good.

    Will check this one out.

I must admit the japanese kid with the giant turtle monster for a pet has heightened my interest in the film.

Yes. I did see it as one of the special features on The Nightmare Before Christmas DVD that I rented from Netflix once.

Probably. Tim Burton's animated movies fill me with a rage that can't be properly expressed with mortal hands.

That doesn't seem very mature. None of them contain offensive material of a sexist, racist, politically charged or morally dubious nature. You know, things worth getting upset about.

I like that the kid who plays Brick on the show the Middle is the hunchback kid.

I'd so watch it just for that.

My friend got a couple free tickets to a screening for this a couple days ago and invited me along. I was...entertained I suppose. It didn't leave much of an impression (especially after ParaNorman).
