Comparing these photos to the original animation model...it's actually pretty close. Given what I've come to expect from Burton, it's actually not as much a deviancy from the original Dumbo as I was expecting. Though no Timothy Mouse and the fact this film has a decidedly much darker tone to it...I dunno, it could go one way or the other still at this point. I do appreciate that it's an adaption and not a straight up remake though.
I have to say that just from watching the trailer on my phone, that the “made up”, per say, baby elephant in this movie looks a thousand times more realistic than ALL of the elephants in Favreau’s Jungle Book. Damn. And I’ll be damned, I never imagined that we’d get a live action Pink Elephants on Parade.
No? Finding Nemo's seagulls were just a short gag. Dumbo's crows were racist caricatures. Not sure how those two are anything alike.
That was intriguing. Dumbo looks adorable, all the stars look nice (especially Eva Green), and that brief pink elephant scene looked trippy. This may do well.
I'm sure it's going to be great, but I won't be able to watch it. Until I watched this trailer, I forgot how much the original cartoon gutted me as a kid. My whole life, I get completely destroyed whenever an animal - real, cartoon, CGI... it doesn't matter - gets hurt or experiences emotional or physical distress of any kind. It's my Achilles Heel, even at 41 years old. This looks SO good and cute that it will totally eviscerate me within seconds of that little guy showing up on screen, especially since I remember how emotional the story is. I could watch pretty much *anything* grotesquely human related easier than this baby elephant losing his mom and being abused. That, and I've developed a soft spot for elephants and ALL wildlife that gets poached over the decades, so that's going to make it all hit home even harder for me. Hope it's a great movie, and hope everyone enjoys it! I'll just have to take everyone's word how good it ends up being
