Tried a search but couldn't find anything.

What causes old transformers to develop overly tight joints? I've got a G2 Hero Optimus Prime where the rotating bicep joints make them really difficult to swivel. And it doesn't look as if I'm able to take them apart to sand them down or something.

Not so much as break, but they do require a good deal of effort to rotate (I got it for my 4-year-old son but I don't want him to get frustrated if he has a hard time transforming it). I don't notice any discoloration/fading. As for where it has been since 1994, I don't know as I just received it.

I know some old toys (Ultra Magnus' trailer arms) had grease to help lubricate a gear. If you have one that is particularity dirty the joint can get so tight that it will snap. A little cleaning and some grease, it's usually as good as new. I think Scattershot's waist was the same way.

Cool. How to you get at the joint itself to clean/apply the grease? Again, it doesn't appear as though I can take the arms apart to get directly to said joint.
