I do need to add the wider torso parts/hips and use the metal leg ratchets to make him rock solid tho.....when that is done he will be epic.

 

I've been trying to get there myself after being reminded how awesome yours is.

Explaining to the wife why I need more shit on an already expensive set was a pain. I really want the rage set now.

The way I see it, if you get Echo's leg extensions, since it's beefier than the one you have, will take away from the small hips completely. No need for new hips on old Herc.

 

I dunno, the hip flaps being elongated match up with the wider torso. Echo also did a set of metal ratchets for Heavy Labor so the legs are rock solid in combined mode.....quite pricey IIRC but I think in the long run totally worth it.

I hear ya on spending more, I've been wrestling with it all myself and came to the conclusion that it will make a substantially better display figure.....add the metal ratchets and he'll be a rock too.

 

Really impressed with your collection Tigerblade, very envious of all the customs you've been able to put together.

I have the Fansproject insecticons and was wondering whether you had any tips on how you made them more G1? I have found some over-sized G1 KO's online but don't want to buy them to discover I have no idea how to do any of the modding. Thanks

Take their heads, weapons and horns/claws/wings etc for transplant....it'll need a bit of modding and painting tho so ideally you need to be semi handy with a dremel. It's fun tho and it totally transforms them....forgive the pun

Just finished modding a pair of Detolfs together to get more display real estate et voila:



Autobots will need the same treatment soon too as I've now branched out big time into season 2.......

 

How it's structural integrity? You removed the glass?

 

Removed the two glass panes in the middle then cut down the line of the grooves the glass would have sat in and screw them together. This brings them slightly closer together and leaves about 1cm gap at the centre.....front and back. There is a slight sag in the centre at the top so I need to get some stronger material to hold them at the top but it really opens up the display space  

 

Looks awesome together, that Sunstorm really 'pops' out and I still think your modded Menasor looks better than the FP version. Cleaning the cabinet is going to be a bitch though!
