The toy box for 1986 Generation one Scourge. say's that Scourges alt mode is a hovercraft. I always thought that G-1 Scourge's Alt mode looked like Luke Skywalkers LandSpeeder Hover vehicle.

Since some Japanese Anime have water based ships that can thread water & fly thru the Sky & in space. I always imagined 1986 G-1 Scourge's alt mode was a water based hoverboat similar to seaspary's alt mode but a futeristic design. This is Why I think the Energon Voyager sized Dreadwing toy makes a perfect classics toy for 1986 Scourge.

As far as Tidalwave's Trio Vehicles that combined to form that huge alt mode.
I don't think the combined Tidalwave alt mode would be considered a Aircraft carrier alt mode. The front vehicle in the combined alt mode should only be considerd a aircraft carrier in it's seperate singular vechicle mode.

When those Three sea Vehicles combined to form that super vehicle. I prefer the combined alt mode's primary function be a huge & heavily armed space ship that flies thu space & in the air. it's secondary function can also be used as a attack battle ship sea Vehicle that threads water. A battle ship works as Tidalwaves combined alt mode as it's a completly different alt mode & more heavily armed compared to a aircraft carrier.

Scourge's alt mode can hover over water or over planets. It's that good at hovering.

I always thought Tidal Wave was just boats.

Yeah this was my similar reaction to the toy in 1986. It just really looked like a water based vehicle.

Tidal Wave is a Decepticon spaceship that assumes a Battleship form on Earth as his disguise. That's how I work his play pattern. Its also the retional that so many people made customs of him into G1 broadside because of his little wings that suggest a flight mode.

As for scourge its just a retro futuristic spacecraft. Lots of curves to the ideology of Seamless technology in the future. Like the ships in the original Mobile Suit Gundam, Mazinger, or The Mighty Orbots.

To me as a kid I thought Unicron had a rather grim sense of design having scourge rise from a Flying Coffin.

What flying coffin? T-Cracker was floating in space with the other insecticons and they got reformatted.

^ I agree with everything you said & feel the same exact way.

As I also noted in this thread. It is extremely common in Japanese Anime for space ships that fly thru space to also thread water on the oceans.

Title wave is a giant battleship built to transport Mini-Cons. Scourge turns into a flying bathtub that spread fear, dread, & suds to all beings of the universe.
