Was anyone else really disappointed with this fig? I picked him up recently and, while he looks cool, he's just really too small even for being a deluxe. I recall the original Thunderwing being huge and in the comics he was a badass who carried the freaking matrix and beat Jazz, Grimlock and Bumblebee all at the same time. What we have now is roughly the same size as Classic Cliffjumper. Is anyone else bothered by this?

    No, because it's Thunderwing.

What does the bolded part of your post even mean? He is clearly deluxe sized- same size as every other deluxe jet TF. Were you expecting to get a voyager or a leader class stuffed on a deluxe card at a deluxe price?

Thunderwing would have been 1000% awesome if he turned out as Voyager. I'll say 2000% if the Makers were to give us a "transformable" Inner Bot. :drunk

I agree, too small for such a badass.

The same could be said about TFU Galvatron. I don't care if he's a POS as claimed by so many others. Just make him a Voyager Class toy & I can go in peace. :lol

Put him next to Jazz, Tracks and WFC CJ. For a deluxe, he's diminutive. Jazz was one of the smaller Autobots, CJ was a minibot. Thunderwing is smaller than both. Even as a deluxe, such a badass should be, at least, bigger than freaking CJ.

Scale really shouldn't bother TF fans by now.

Scale normally doesn't bother me. It was just Thunderwing.

Scale issues are resolved with a little imagination.

I may or may not get hated on for this but my understanding is outside of the comics(which I haven't read) he isn't that well known so the fact that he got a figure at all should count for something right?

TW is a good sign that Hasbro is dipping into the post '86 movie figures and i have been hoping for better incarnations of some of those.

as for size, i don't have TW yet. but if he is about the size of say, RotF Breakaway, i may feel a little disappointed. but it is still TW and so that feeling will pass.

and Deluxe will never = scale.
there's just things that won't ever happen in the world and that's one of them.

(and yeah, i wanted a deluxe Windcharger, too.)

I honestly think some people are blinded by the character and tend to ignore the toy flaws. If it were a movie figure, it'd be slammed up and down. After all, wasn't there a veritable shit-storm over RotF Megatron's visible head in alt mode?

I liked the comic character of Thunderwing and actually like the Pretender. This figure let me down on all fronts, probably because I ignored the reviews before getting it. If I'd have known it was so simple and small, I'd have opted for a better, more advanced figure like Skullgrin or Cliffjumper (or an RPM for that matter).
The biggest 'fail' point of the figure is that it makes Universe Silverbolt look intelligently designed. Silverbolt, while basically a bot with a jet on his back, at least hides his arms in alt mode. Thunderwing makes no attempt to do this. Hell, spread his feet out and drop the chest piece, and there's a robot.
    Unimpressed.

Besides, how many other deluxe figures are ranked as Easy on the package? What else is ranked as easy? Let's see, FAB's, Activators, Gravity Bots, Legends...

I felt he was way too small, but I mean the detail is perfect, the transformation is easy and smooth so I can't complain that much. The one thing I wish was that he was in the same scale as classics jetfire.

You mean shorter, not smaller & taller, not bigger. You're complaint is about height.

Smaller/bigger/size.etc. refers more to mass/all around dimensions, which all deluxes should be pretty close in. It's just more of TW's mass goes into drone, guns and wings/backpack than into height.

I'm going to get this figure because I can almost guarantee that we will get an upgrade kit for Thunderwing. Somebody's gonna have to make a Stormbringer shell for him.
