In the Marvel UK comics, when they make Thunderwing the Decepticon leader, is he leader of all the Cons, or just the ones on Cybertron?

Scorpinox retained control of the Earthbound Decepticons. Thunderwing Only commanded a small group as they searced for the matrix.

Well, theoretically he'd be the leader of ALL Decepticons, but I suppose those he is out of contact with or who refuse to follow the drum of the main Decepticon faction would be outside of his sphere of influence.

So probably better to say he'd be leader of the main Decepticon faction, which would probably be the majority of them.

That I understand. It's the UK issues that are confusing me.

Thunderwing's obsession with acquiring the Matrix kind of made moot the breadth of his authority. He didn't seem to give a crap what Scorponok was up to, or how the war with the Autobots was going. Maybe he had long-range plans that required acquisition of the Matrix to implement.

Hey, there's a story thread for Furman to pick up if he writes the rumored "Marvel #81"!

Good point about a possible story for #81, if we ever get it. They did just leave Thunderwing's fate open ended, IIRC.

There was some kind of Decepticon High Council that made Thunderwing leader in some Marvel UK issue, but by then there were so many Decepticon factions that it was a pretty dubious honor.

I'd love to see Thunderwing back with the Matrix. His affinity for it was his most interesting trait. Marvel T-wing is infinitely more interesting than Stormbringer Thunderwing.

Stormbringer Thunderwing was cool as an unstoppable monster, but afterwards... I would have loved to see him regain his consciousness, at least part of it. Maybe he'd go after the Matrix in the hope that it would heal him, restore his "Cybertronity" or something. ;)

Was there anything in the IDW comics as to what happened to Thunderwing after the whole "Dead Universe" thing?

Not really, but I'd assume TW was placed in Autobot custody. Hopefully not on the prison planet that was taken over by Overlord in Last Stand of the Wreckers.

Well, considering that Overlord had all prisoners executed... let's hope not. Maybe Thunderwing will be back someday. Or I'll have to write a fanfic about him waking up and going for the Matrix.

Overlord did make a bargain with Shockwave and "a hand-picked crew" for their release, leaving it ambiguous who also survived. Shockwave has since popped back up in the Ongoing, but I haven't read it, couldn't say who if anyone else from Garrus-9 appeared as well.

In the IDW books, didn't Cyclonus re-activate Thunderwing to guard some gateway to the Dead universe, or something?

Right, that's what we're referring to. The trail goes cold, he was last seen fighting the Wreckers.
