That looks amazing! I so wish this was official.
Update photo and, sort of, alt mode photo. (He's drying in between coats, so didn't want to fully transform him.)
As you can see, the blue will be used more as a accent on the alt mode, keeping the majority as silver/gunmetal/neutrals. This puts him closer to his comic appearances and the alt mode of his inner robot (plus the Generations versions both kept the blue to a minimum). The lilac/light purple will only be used on his cannon and side skirts. The details of the cannon will be broken up using more gunmetal/gold.
Once I can see what the alt mode looks like, I can judge where additional paint apps need to go to balance it out!
Haha, hope you've got some spare pants to hand!
I didn't have pants on this time.
Too bad the movie line this time around takes no interest in making more movie verse characters :T
Another update, properly transformed into the alt mode.
Not sure what - if anything - needs to be done at the back of the plane. Maybe more silver? Some gold touches? Something to break up the blue-grey... Thoughts?
Gold would look good
I tought that you could make a legends Inner Thunderwing, but I cannot think of any mold suitable for the character.
im currently trying to formulate that with my leader class version, so far to no avail as like you said, i can't find a legends mold evocative enough of thunderwing i'm partially leaning towards legion class RID15 starscream but im not sure
Now that would be impressive! Would you try and find a way to fit the Legends figure into the bot mode (like a proper Pretender) or just attach him to the jet to make something like the G1 'combined starship' mode?
As it stand right now I'm working on how to tuck him into his chest cavity in robot mode and potentially lightly modifying the jet mode to incorporate him, at the moment the results aren't anything worth showing but I'll snap some shots soon as I have something worth posting a WIP thread
Wow, nice jet mode!
The blue-grey looks really great on its own; adding more would undo its nice combination.
I would borrow the gold from the Pretender Shell's alt mode, and add it to your back dark gray section. Just some fine apps to break it up.
Maybe add some groove shadows to the purple section. To somewhat evoke the look of the lavender Blasters on the Shell's alt mode wings.
[I think emulating the Marvel G1 jet mode with more silver would suit this guy pretty well. Give him that "vast, predatory bird" look!]
I am so sending you my megs to do this lol!!!
I love Thunderwing! Best decepticon evah!!!
looks killer but I'd personally use a metallic purple and metallic dark green for those purple and dark green areas. Making everything metallic can make then whole thing look like a gem.
Yeah! I love my Decepticon leaders how I like my coffee: unhinged and obsessed with the Matrix!
Haha, that would be super shiny. Wouldn't quite suit the aesthetic that I'm aiming for with this custom though!
I love everything about this custom and the awesomeness its inspiring. (Yes in that way.)
the head & crest are equal parts glory & sex
Wow...that's awesome, the colors are perfect!!! I didn't really plan on picking up any Last Knight figures besides Hot Rod but now I might snag a Megatron. This is such a perfect fit for Thunderwing.
Cheers, that means a lot!
... whoa. Is it warm in here guys, or is it just me?
I've only ever picked up one other Movie Megatron (Armoured truck from DotM), but I had to get this one (even before I'd decided on the custom). Now he's my Thunderwing, I don't think it can be bettered (unless they start doing full-size Pretenders again: unlikely)!
Okay, I think I'm going to call this one done. Pretty happy with the results!
Of course, it wouldn't be Thunderwing if he didn't get his hands on the Creation Matrix!
And finally... SURPRISE! This custom was actually made from the OS KO version of the Voyager figure (often listed as Rendsora). Whilst a Leader-class figure would have been perfect, there is precedent for him being even bigger in the comics (sometimes).
Thanks for viewing!
