Sorry this thread is kinda late, but I just thought about it.

Is anyone going tomorrow? I think the air show is the best part! I wish the F-22 was there this year, but at lease they have the B1Bs and the Apaches... they are the best IMO.

For those that don't know, this celebration kicks off the Kentucky Derby and it includes a military/civilian air show that leads up to the largest fireworks display in the world. It is in Louisville, KY and it takes place over the Ohio River. It can also be viewed from the Indiana side of the river in Clarksville and Jefersonville.

I wouldn't mind going one year, but the traffic is freakin terrible getting out of there. I'll just stick with watching it on TV(as lame as fireworks on tv is).

I havent seen it since I've move down to North Carolina in 2007. I miss seeing the jets go by the house and having the ground shake from the fireworks going off.

Usually go every year. There's always someone throwing a party in one of the buildings near. Good spots for the air shows and to hang around a bit after so you don't have to fight traffic.

I like being by the river during the fireworks though, they blow those bridges up.
The fireworks have been getting better but the music selection's been getting lamer.

Park in Holiday Inn's rear lot if you don't want to pay for parking.
Louisville cashes in hard with the parking on Thunder.

Ain't that the truth. I'll be on the Jefersonville side, so traffic will be a little better.

Yeah, the music is pretty lame. They should do a Heavy Metal themed show. Fireworks set to Master of Puppets would rule!

I haven't gone the last few years, the traffic and crowds are just too much.

Go on the Jeffersonville/Clarksville side next year. The crowd was pretty mild and getting out and back on I-65 was pretty smooth as well. I sat with our stuff on the waterfront the whole time and people basically kept to themselves and respected others' possessions. I had some friends that were on the Louisville side and they couldn't say the same.

I live here in Jeff. You can park in the alley behind the flood wall by Jeff Boat, walk up the hill and chill free and easy. The late start was annoying but it's nice to sit and see the spectacle.

Yeah, my mom was at home watching it on TV and she called me explaining why there was a late start. Is this the first time a delay like that has happened?

I parked by the flood wall too (my friend's wife's grandma lives there so we parked in the driveway) and we sat underneath the Kennedy Bridge. It was a great seat, but I hope we can find a better one next year, because I want to be able to see everything.
