Does anyone know a reason why these guys were never reissued after their initial convention exclusive reissues back in the early 2000s? Every other seeker has had multiple releases. Are these two the least popular?
It's a glaring hole in my reissue collection!

And Ramjet was in Classics, plus isn't he in the G2 set also? or was that a different seeker...

    He means G1, not Classics.

As to why, I have no idea. Dirge at least saw a reissue in the States via Hasbro Commemorative, but even he hasn't seen another release from Takara. I wonder why. I feel strange having a Sunstorm but brand-spanking-new Ramjet or Thrust to go with Starscream/Skywarp/Thundercracker/Dirge.

I have all 6 of those convention exclusive reiussues. They are pretty nice.

I seem to remember back when the Hasbro reissues were out they planned on releasing Ramjet and possible Thrust, but the whole line was canned.

He's referring to the G1 reissues.

Ramjet was planned to be reissued in the US (prototypes had showed up on Ebay) but was obviously cancelled when Hasbro pulled the plug on the line.

Typically they are less popular than the other seekers repaints/remolds as well as other G1 figures. Had encore continued, they might have seen a two pack release like TC and SW received.

1,000 Ramjet & Thrust were produced by Takara back in the early 2000's, only 800 of Dirge were produced.

Hasbro made Dirge first (likely because he was made the least by Takara), and had plans (supposedly) of releasing Ramjet and Thrust. A listing for Ramjet even appeared along side Trailbreaker in Canadian TRU computers. But the line was scrapped before they were ever produced so they never came about.

That's the only reason why they haven't been reissued in America, and the reissues for the 3 Coneheads were all very limited in Japan.

I have the reissue Thrust & Ramjet by the way. :)

Hasbro... reissues are a hard sell with retailers.

Takara.... i don't think they're necessarily off the table. Encore's been a bit random, but rumors abound it's not necessarily done yet.

Or they might get KOd some day.

I can understand why Hasbro wouldn't, but I do hope Takara reissues them sometime soon. Even if they aren't as popular, I would think they would sell a bit better with collectors than yet another Starscream reissue.

Hey, thanks for the heads up guys. I'm such a "new school" collector that I didn't THINK about G1 reissues.

I get where that notion comes from, but Takara markets to collectors. What do many (though of course, not all) collectors have by now? A reissue of Prime, Megs, Starscream, and Soundwave. Each has been reissued at least three times, if not more, within the past decade or so. Moving forward, I can understand a new reissue of each once or twice a decade or so, so new collectors can snap them up. For everyone else though who wants to see "new" blood in the reissue line, I would think stuff we haven't seen in awhile (Ramjet, Thrust, Hound, Grapple, Blitzwing) or have never seen (Artfire, remaining cassettes, Cyclonus, Scourge, etc.) would drum up more interest in a new series of reissues with collectors than the latest Prime or Starscream reissue. Hell, even reissuing G2 Optimus and Starscream would be a change of pace.

Going back to the reissue Prime/Soundwave/Starscream well so often would seem a better idea for Hasbro rather than risk reissues of characters that kids aren't as familiar with and aren't interested in, since Hasbro markets to kids and not collectors (though reissues of any kind seem risky for Hasbro).

I don't think we'll see these reissued in the states. It seems to me, that now they only reissue the more unique molds.

With the success Hasbro is having with Classics inspired figures, I highly doubt we'll see a mass retail release of a G1 reissue in the states.

I was also wondering the same thing, because I think ramjet and thrust are way cooler than dirge. It would have been nice if they released a conehead 2 or 3 pack in the encore line, I know it would be a lot more popular than trailbreak, ratchet, skids, etc.
