He put cotton balls in his ears. It’s the great unspoken deus ex machina Roberts never told us about.

Because Roberts didn't want to kill Megatron...

That whole scene was just strange to begin with. Tarn's killer voice was unused for years, and so unused that many people though it was more to do with touch or proximity than his actual voice. And then how Megs used a superweapon he had just perfected was strange too.

Isn't that one of the defining characteristics of them? The DECEPTICON Justice Division, meant to inspire fear in the DECEPTICON ranks (and by proxy the Autobots), and keep the deserters to a minimum?

I think enough has been said about that, but my two cents are, if rob wanted to be no bodies, he shouldn't have spent so much time and effort building them up.

What if Lex Luthor intentionally wrote a terrible Superman comic in order to express how much of a nobody Superman is?

It's not just his natural voice that kills, it's an ability he has to specifically use and "turn on." As for why he never used it on Megatron, the most obvious explanation is that it's an ability that requires a significant amount of focus; it's no coincidence that the only times we've seen Tarn use his voice powers have been outside of combat on captive and/or non-threatening subjects. It likely requires too much focus to be able to use in combat, which is why he never used it against Overlord, the Scavengers, or Megatron.

It's also worth noting that Tarn clearly had a thing for theatrics, and simply killing Megatron with his voice (when they were talking before Overlord's appearance) was likely not nearly satisfying enough for his dramatic obsessions. On top of that, it's not exactly unlikely that Megatron would have ensured some immunity to Tarn's insta-kill power, no matter how loyal he may have been.

Tarn's voice is "the voice of conscience" as sadistic, idiotic superego. Look at the cases where we saw it deployed. Black Shadow argues he shouldn't be punished because what he did no longer matters -- the war is over! Blip argues he shouldn't be punished because what he did doesn't matter -- he's the only member of the sparkeater cult! Tarn's voice is the thing which responds that it doesn't matter that it doesn't matter, that principles are more important than practical consequences. The more you try to rationalize, the guiltier you are. And who conceives of themselves as more rational than Shockwave?

The characters who have defeated or escaped Tarn are the ones who stuck to their irrational principles -- Fulcrum, Deathsaurus, Overlord, and Megatron.

Nothing I've written has anything to do with the amount of thought put into the creation of the book.

And something he last used in, let's think... Assault on the Ark, Marvel UK, back in 1984? Yeah most people today probably saw this coming out of the blue since newer Megatrons don't usually get the whole black hole fusion cannon thing mentioned.
And yes, it's a problem I noticed the longer this comic storyline got, that Roberts simply ignores certain things to make things happen exactly as he planned them to happen.

Things changed a lot since IDW comics are no longer given away free with toys. Remember when they shoehorned in characters out of the blue, like Waspinator, Scoop, Sky-Byte, Rhinox, Crosscut, just because they had toys out?
That said, since Battletrap (Battleslash/Roadtrap) is out as a toy, I expect so will be Flywheels too. But he is kinda perma-dead, no spark or brain module, and what was left of him was cannibalized.
Now they just have to make him return to Cybertron, unkill Slag, add Slash, and then have them fall into a vat of acid with the Enigma of Combination so they can put Volcanicus to the comic. Trust me, it'll happen. IDW will not leave a low-hanging fruit like a dinobot combiner untouched. :D

Yes, and he only used it twice in that continuity as well.

And yes for Roberts forcing things to fit.

Did anything ever happen with that Necrobot story?

Maybe there's some MacGuffin there we can employ...

I'm pronouncing "Scavengers" more like "Avengers" after hearing about them pronouncing the team name differently every time to Nickel.

I wonder if there's any significance to the Pretender Monsters and the Dinoforce showing up in the same comic.

Either foreshadowing some boxed sets possibly coming out, or just someone likes the characters. Are any of them dead currently?

Oh yeah, Hasbro isn't just stopping with Dinobot, Terrorcon and Fembot combiner molds.

It's easy to foresee Horrocon's, Seacon's, Dinoforce and who know's what else they'll make out of those pending Fembots next year.
