During IDW's panel at Botcon 2011, it was asked (loosely paraphrasing here) who would like to see issue 81 of the original G1 verse continued? I know I'm anticipating it, but only a decent applause was heard. Then it was asked who would like to see IDW explore the Transformers Animated universe? The place erupted.

Several factors can be used to explain those two reactions, after all it was an Animated convention, but I want to explore this particular question: would you like to see Animated explored by IDW?

I am a fan of TFA and I feel it left us way too soon. There are numerous loose ends to tie up, new characters to introduce and develop, and an enormous amount of great story potential to explore. If you've read the All Spark Almanacks you understand what Animated could have been with an extra season.

What's your opinions? Is Animated worth exploring? Should it remain the way it is now? Or do you not care?

The poll should have only one option.

    The first one.

Definitely. I'd have loved to see what Isenberg and co. would come up with.

    I'm indifferent.

It would be nice if they did continue it but I think we should move on. I'd rather see a comic for Prime at the moment.

Also how would this work, a continuation beyond season 3? No, that would just cheapen the utterly awesome ending the show had.

it would be nice to continue, and... that could even give us some chances to get new toys based in the comics, as Drift was xD

As much as I'd like more animated, I think I would be disappointed by a comic, no matter how close it was to the series.

    Pretty much this^

Animated was great and I'd love to see a fourth season, but I don't think a comic series would do it much justice. It would seem forced, especially with Prime being a main focus in the fandom right now.

Of course I'd love it if it was continued, as long as DJW's involved and we get the same crew that worked on the Botcon comics, which turned out great.

Marty HAS to write it. If it starts and later on, he's unavailable to write it, put it on hold until he can come back.

Derrick J Wyatt needs to do designs.

Ideally, Marcelo Matere would be the artist. The only artist.

I'd buy it, and love it.

It didn't have an ending. That was never meant to be an ending to the series, just Season 3. Season 4 was planned. This poll is if we want to see the planned Season 4, and possibly more, in comic form.

Sucks to be you, they're working on #81 right now.

Megatron is in chains and about to be jailed, Optimus has the Magnus hammer, the Allspark is put back together, and Megatron's most loyal supporters are imprisoned.

Regardless of whether that was planned it's a pretty conclusive and, IMO, fitting end to the series.

Then what do you do about the loose ends? Lots of Decepticons are still lurking around, and a big detail - we learned nothing about what exactly Sari is or how she ended up on earth.

Not only that, but we now have an official comic that continues after that point, and ends on yet another cliffhanger, with Strika's team attacking Cybertron.

I think the ship has already sailed, at least for now. My interests are now in TFP and whatever CHUG stuff comes out. I'd probably get the trades just to have the whole story, but I'd be worried that it would get canceled in mid-story and be left with a cliffhanger that never gets resolved.

Which is why we need an ongoing sequel set in the TFA universe.

I don't know about that. Season 3 was never an "ending" as there was an entire season 4 planned. I can't agree that it was fitting at all given the amount of detail about season 4 in the All Spark Almanacks. There's so much potential to explore and the amount of story that could be added on to season 3's ending leaves a lot to be desired.

Look forget what ifs. Look at season 3's end as if that was the only conclusion we knew.

It wraps things up nicely. Just because BW's writers intended a fourth season doesn't mean we should make it. Animated is in the past, now let's move on and focus on developing the new continuity rather than constantly dredging up the old.

I'm indifferent. TFA continued in comic form can either go really, really well, or it could turn out incredibly horrible.

If it does happen, I'll wait a while until enough feedback comes in before I buy it.
