I was sitting here thinking about how much I wanted that Stepper but really didn't want to pay that price tag. With people wanting him and a Universe Repaint of G2 Prime as Scrourge what is everybody's feelings on Hasbro doing a second wave of those Special Editions they did back in 2008 (Optimus Prime, Megatron, Drap Strip and Overkill)?

They could put in Stepper, Scrouge and as far as other esay repaints Sunstorm and Cheetor repainted as Tigertron. Maybe you have different idea's for the four?

It would be interesting to see what they would come up with, assuming they don't make any new parts. I'd go with Toxitron or Laser Magnus from RtS Laser Prime. Thrust in green (armada homage) or Ramjet in desert camo (unused G2 colors), Wreck-Gar mold in Cy-Kill colors (ideally using the Scrap Heap head), and maybe Scourge in RiD Dreadwind (green/grey) colors.

I would absolutely love to see Hasbro do this but, from the looks of it, it probably won't happen because the first run was a colossal failure.

The first Hasbro Toy Shop special editions ended up as discount store fodder.

Sure do not wish to see them produce such a "Special Editions",is pure waste of time, they should just concentrate on FOC,Prime series at the moment.

I think you meant RID Scourge from the RTS Laser Prime mold. Honestly though this does not seem like the best idea. I seem to recall that the special editions did not sell that well. I think part of the problem to was that they used the Deluxe prime mold which overall is a very weak mold.

The problem with the Special Editions is you're paying more for... nothing.

Well, fancy packaging, essentially. But people had trouble stomaching paying a premium (even a small one) when the figures really had no need to be more expensive. Hell, Prime was barely even redecoed. They were HTS exclusives, which is exactly where a lot of fans pick up normal Deluxes... a 50% markup for no discernible reason just doesn't sit well.

When the Special Editions first came out, there were rumours of a Cliffjumper with a new head. That's the only thing I'm holding out for, because I still don't have the character.

I love the fact your case assortment even included a shelf warmer in Tigatron. Don't get me wrong, I love BW but this would be the one that sat. Good idea, not sure if it would ever get to market.

They were going to do a Red Mirage as a diaclone homage in wave 2 if it was successful.
We have a ton more deluxe molds to work with these days so here are my thoughts for a few more late g1 homages.

Dark of the moon Air Raid- Sunrunner
    Generations Wheeljack- Slicer
    HFTD Tomahawk- Rotorstorm
Classics Prowl- Barricade (movie barricade in classics style)

    or alternatively:

Universe Cyclonus- Triggerhappy with targetmaster blowpipe.
    HFTD Tomahawk- Blaze master
Generations Darkmount- Gunrunner (Alt mode based on landshaker)

Honestly this was more of a problem with them phasing generations in and out of the movie line. Most of us never saw a Perceptor or Wreck Gar in a regular retail store.

I very much doubt that we'll get a retail release of the Stepper repaint since it was an e-Hobby exclusive. However, I would still be interested in a repaint using the Jazz mold, as long as it was a decent G1 homage like maybe Nightbeat (even though he has been done as a TFCC exclusive).

Yeah. But hasbro has done two nightbeat scouts essentially though the movie line. And the TFCC version was a while ago so it could be available for the classics mainline for the sheer comic fandom like thunderwing and darkmount received.

Why not use this as a conduit for more combiner limb repaints..... Sell one a quarter in limited runs of say 2500-3500 based on demand.

Dead End - Rts Jazz mold repaint
Breakdown - Universe Sideswipe mold repaint
Wildrider - Classics Hotrod mold repaint similar to what was done with Dirge, Thrust, and Thundercracker
Brawl - Generations Warpath mold repaint

    ETC....

    Id like to see:

RTS Jazz mould as Dead End
Classics Ramjet mould as Gobot Fitor
    Generations Warpath mould as Gutcruncher
    Generations Kup as Gobots Smallfoot

It would be awesome if we could get 4 more repaints of Bumblebee.

One of the problems with the first set in my case was that I only wanted (and bought) Drag Strip and Overkill. The other two were really just a waste. The pricing is alittle high, guess they needed that box paid for, but I'd still buy up updates of older characters

Yeah I figured out of the four molds I picked this one would prolly get the worst of it. I guess getting this would be better then waiting to see if Hasbro will ever do a new mold.

Red Mirage is an easy custom, give us something that needs funny coloured windows, like a full set of repurposed Axelorators!!
