Guess I'll put Thor 2 news here rather than the original Thor thread-

    Did Branagh rule himself out?

Or did Marvel Studios rule him out?

Branagh said he didn't want to return but I think he will still be a producer. I'll see if I can find a link.

Hm..... considering the Avengers movie; this, Iron Man 3 and (possibly) Captain America 2 would be very somewhat odd (unless this is a prequel, but yeah......)

its not odd for me, in the cartoons and comics the avengers members still had their own solo adventures without the help of the otehr avengers

Just got to see the first Thor yesterday. Liked it, but every time Loki was on screen I kept thinking, "Man, I wish they'd reboot Star Trek: The Next Generation, 'cause Hiddleston would make a fantastic Data." Distracted me a little, is all.

Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba were fantastic as Loki and Heimdall.

Saw the first one recently on TV and liked it very much :)
Glad to see there is a second movie. I heard many people complain about the first movie, but I don't see why.

^That's brilliant casting Hiddleston as Data.
Anyways, this is great news because Hiddleston was perfect as Loki and I like how they portrayed Heimdal. I didn't expect much from Thor, but I can't get over thinking about how it exceeded my expectations. Hopefully we get to explore Asgard more in the sequel.

i'm actually more surprised that they're actually going to do a thor 2 rather then just stick with the avengers, and it's various sequels, and then when they want to add a new character, all they gotta do is do one back ground movie, where it explores the new character's origins.

with that said, i liked thor, and i will look forward to the sequel.

well remember in the comics the avengers members always had thier own solo adventures despite beign part of a team, so i think Marvel wants to do the same with their movies

Well it's official - Patty Jenkins is the director for Thor 2. Also, due to 'The Lone Ranger" being pushed back to summer 2013 after the budgeting concerns Thor 2 has been moved to November 15th 2013.
Patty Jenkins Officially Confirmed To Direct Thor 2

I'm interested to see how this all works out. It's still a really long way away so I'm not going to get to worked up about it right now.

Patty Jenkins is out as director (over "creative differences"). Usually when one hears that it's easy to assume that the studio (Disney or Marvel) wanted to force the director to do what they wanted but there's no way to really tell. Maybe Jenkins had a some weird concepts that didn't fit with what Marvel is trying to do. Oh well. I just hope they can still make it without rushing and hurting the movie!

Peter Jackson would probably make a great Thor movie if he wasn't so busy. I think the replacement director should be Andrew Stanton if he's not still working on John Carter.
