In this issue the real Thor vs. Iron man. The result: Total pwnage. Can't wait for round 2.
I'm still astounded at how Tony's dialogue is being written, at times.
"Hey pal, gotta register."
"THOU HAS DEFILED MINE GENETIC CODE AND CLONED YOUR FRIEND WITHOUT PERMISSION."
"Oh for fu-- sorry about that, now come register."
Hated the issue. I picked it up solely for the fight and knew I wouldn't like it. Tony was just wirrten completely terribly and Thor sucks balls. He owned Iron Man, as well he should have, but it just didn't seem as cool as the buildup. I found the New Orleans parts better done.
Blast! I forgot about this issue? Did the fight live up to expectations? Was it intense etc?
I thought it was a nice fight, but the outcome was pretty much what you would expect from a "mortal man in a metal suit" vs a GOD.
#1 = awesome
#2 = ....eh.
I think this one could go either way. I'll read #3 in store. If it rocks, I'll add it to my reserve, if not, I walk away.
Could be the starting of next years' World War Thor.
But the only bugger was if this takes place before or after World War Hulk, because I thought one of the Warbound had a grudge against Thor?
world war thor eh? at this rate i cant wait for world war squirrel girl.
I see, I see! Coming from you...the fight should be decent for me!
I'm not sure either but I think it should be after?
I found the New Orleans part funny esp since it had just started raining, and the canal was already filled to the brim with water. I guess it never left New Orleans.
Oh, and ultra realism in the mass gangs of white homeless people lol.
But yeah, this fight was really hyped up by several people, and it really disappointed.
Tony getting owned was so freakin WIN!
"Hey ahh...sorry 'bout that, Thor...ol' buddy...ol' pal...how'z 'bout we jus' forget 'bout registering you and give ya anything ya like...eh?"
Okay, read it. While the fight was incredibly one-sided and really short, I still thought it was really frickin' awesome. The part about New Orleans was well done, considering the sensitive nature of trying to do something like that in a comic. The last page with the new guy (can't remember his name, let alone how to spell it) was spectacular.
But despite that, I'm still heisitate to add this to my list for some reason.
That would be Heimdall, the guardian of the gods who will blow the Gjallarhorn if danger approaches Asgard.
as much as i think this will be a good story....it's like i'm re-living "Journey Into Mystery" or whatever Thor (the comic) was called when Thor got Heroes Reborn'ed.
I liked the fight short and sweet. It's the way it should have been. Iron-Man was NEVER in Thor's class. You can just tell how powerful he is by not even allowing IM's Repulsars to damage his Cape.
That said, Tony is being written more and more like a real prick in these side stories. It's like Marvel isn't even trying to make him heroic anymore and are accepting IM as it's #1 villian as he was voted by the fans last year. I'm really hoping they don't use the "He's a Skrull" excuse later as hinted at in the New Avengers in order fix him in time for his movie next year. (caus that'll suck worse than the reboot they gave him from his Teenage Iron-Man story arc just before Heroes Reborn.
It was a nice issue, but no where near The Mighty Thor #385.
THAT is the best comic ever.
Thor really should have made it final there. I know the confrontation was to give Thor distance from the Initiative but I think he could have been more final about his dealing with Tony. Banished him to a pocket dimension. Locked him up in Asgard. Somethin'....
