In years past, there have been certain toys that have caused many a soccer mom to try and rush to the store to get as fast as possible before avaliable stock ran out. Examples include Tickle Me Elmo and those Zhu Zhu pets from last year. I was just curious if anybody knew what could be considered this year's big "gotta have" toy.

Lalaloopsy Ragdolls are kinda big. I know you don't want to come between them and a mom at Toy R US that was very scary. Didn't happen to me but I saw it.

I'm guessing the Leapfrog Tablet thingie myself. Only because I saw them behind a table being guarded by a TRU employee.

This is based on my child, nephews, nieces and me asking various employees at major retailers.

    LeapPad
    Xia-Xia Pets
    Air Swimmers
    Pillow Pets
    lalaloopsy
    Monster High

I don't trust websites that tell you whats hot without a reliable source. They just want you to click on the links so they can make money off you. Also I don't buy the X-Box Kinect being hot. IMHO, it's Microsoft paying the retailers to push it to the consumers. I see tons at TRU, Target and Walmart.

    Oh god, Tickle Me Elmo...

I worked at TRU during the holidays the year that was out. Couldn't tell you how many times I had customers ask me for that damn thing and wouldn't take "No, we don't have any, you'll have to get a rain check" for an answer. I think they really thought we had a secret stash of the things hidden away somewhere.

Monster High seems big this year. Pretty much every store I've been to has been almost wiped clean of them.

I never have problems finding the "it" toy whereever I live. Tickle Me Elmo wasn't a problem, we have Leappad tablets galore. Last year though while living in Modesto the one thing I couldn't find nor get was the dancing Mickey. Walmart across town had one left and I had 15 minutes to get there (across town at 6pm with 5,000 stoplights), but alas I got there and got Mickey, no one died and I didn't even get a ticket.
My son played with him a couple times and now uses him as a Godzilla like figure to tear through his latest Lego town.

I know I probably sound like an idiot but what is TRU?

Honestly, none of this stuff is really hard to find.

... it's just hard to find when you wait till the last minute & expect to be the only person in the city after it, especially in the 1st store you visit. I've usually been that person when it comes to gifts, but at least I know what I'm getting into. :)

I don't understand how those are popular. (It's basically bratz Halloween)

Surprisingly, G.I. Joe pegs are empty occasionally at the stores I go to.

I have to agree about Monster High as well. Everywhere I go, there's hardly any left!

Eh, don't feel bad. I didn't hear of "TRU" until shortly after I joined this forum & thought it was something else for like 2 months. Then I googled it once, and pretty much came to the same revelation.
