I'll admit I was curious about this movie I had never really heard of and how it was #1 at the Box Office for two weeks in a row. So I watched it. Yes the plot was way too predictable, the dialogue was medicore at best... and the time spent rehearsing must have been ridiculous. But if you like dance moves, street, choreographed or otherwise then check this movie out. I was very impressed by all the step and street moves performed. With the weak competition coming out this weekend Stomp should still be #1 or maybe #2 (if Epic Movie draws a crowd it doesn't deserve) so check it out on cheap movie night.
I'd rather see Epic Movie than Stomp the Yard. The latter holds less than zero appeal; you'd have to pay me to see NSync: The Movie. Epic Movie surely isn't as good as Airplane, Hot Shots, etc, but at least it's up that alley. At least Honey had Jessica Alba gyration. Wha's Stomp gots on that?
i dont know but at least it looks more interesting than "You Got Served" and i hope "Epic Movie" will be good....Scary Movie = Good, Date Movie = Bad.
Epic Movie is #1. Ugh. This will encourage the x out of 6 writers to make more of that drivel. Boo to that.
I've been thinking about starting the script to "Dance Movie." But then I saw Stomp the Yard, and realized there was nothing left to parody. Well, back to my screenplay for 'Teacher Movie' with Tina Fey...
Scary Movie 1 = Bad Scary Movie 2 = God Awful Scary Movie 3 = Not too bad Scary Movie 4 = lame Date Movie = lame and dull Epic Movie = probably sucks donkey balls with the best parts already in the trailer (which wasn't that good either). Not Another Teen Movie is the only one worth a shit.
With the imminent release of TF, I figured it was about time to resurrect this discussion.... June 22-24 box office, top 5 Evan Almighty looks to be 2007's Waterworld...about $175M to produce with a $31.2M opening and really bad reviews. I'm guessing a final take of $50-60M. Universal had better hope the overseas market is really receptive to this movie. It was really nice to see a horror film that wasn't a torture porn take the #2 spot ($20.6M debut). I doubt 1408 is going to be the next Scream but I figured decent word of mouth should push it to a closing tally of $50-60M domestically. FF2 took a pretty deep plunge in its second week ($20M this past weekend). If this continues, the movie will probably close in the $160-170M range. Ocean's Thirteen has racked up $91M so far (thanks to another $11.4M in its third week) and with no adult-oriented ensemble caper films coming up in the next few weeks, should continue to fare well. A $140-150 final total is possible for this movie. Knocked Up surpassed the $100M mark this past weekend and suffered the smallest decline in the top 10, racking up just under $11M in its fourth frame. It's taking the 'slow and steady' route and could reach $150-160 when it's finished its theatrical run. Having said all this, TF is just going to blow all competition out of the water in the upcoming Independence Day frame. The only question is who is going to be in the #2 slot--I'd be very surprised to see Evan there. -= CS =-
