Is it that big of a deal though? The movie is gonna be a visual masterpiece, no matter what quality and size the screen is. There's a huge "fake IMAX" screen at my local theater; I saw ROTF on it and it looked pretty damn good if I do say so myself.

The 117.2 × 96.5 ft one in Sydney must be something. I wish I got a chance to see a movie there before moving to the US.

But everything else here is bigger so it's all good.

    Especially the burgers.

I hate where i live, Fucking Oklahoma. No Imax near me that is playing anything and i have to drive 35 min to the closest place just to see the movie in regular format. I miss living in Connecticut and Chicago. Being stationed in Oklahoma sucks balls.

I don't think Bay has anything to do with this, its the theater's decision.

LOL I thought about calling and asking but I mean what do I say? "Is your IMAX fake?" I'm sure half of the employees won't know or those who do will say that it isn't fake just to get in more customers.

And thanks for the search but it isn't listing a LOT of IMAX screens, (like where I live), and I am surprised that pretty much every IMAX screen in CA is fake with the exception of only a couple. And those that are real don't really show movies (like the Rueben Fleet Science Center)

Phrase your question correctly and you'll get an honest answer. Just ask them if they know what format their IMAX is in. If they don't know, ask if they can find out for you. Nobody'll yell at you for asking. Remember, you're a paying customer who's dishing out a fair bit of money for the experience. It's your right to ask what format your cinema shows to make sure you get what you pay for. Research pays off.

It's possible your IMAX could be getting it, they just aren't advertising times yet. My IMAX in Seattle is screening it, but the only ad they have right now is a tiny picture in the "Coming Soon" section, with no times listed. Maybe yours doesn't even have the image, but plans to put it up later? It's cutting it close for sure, but my IMAX isn't even listing times yet and it comes out in 2 weeks. Give them a call!

Why not just see it in a regular theater? Does it really matter how big the screen is?
