This is a good thing, but I hate sappy holiday sentiment, even when it involves a dying kid.

I'm guessing that didn't touch you where I thought you had been touched.

Nice sentiment to an 11 year old kid that has died who tried to do something good in this world. I'm pretty much a cold hearted bastard but no 11 year old deserves to die, hell they haven't even had a chance to live yet.

Ever consider it's not the poor kid that made him queasy but the super saccharine sentiment this type of story generates?

Would this make news if say, a NORMAL Kid wanted to do it?

    News really annoys me sometimes.

Also, sad, *cry*, all the stuff that won't get me flamed.

If more people in the world thought and acted like this KID we would ALL be in a much better place than where we are as a society.

A "normal" child wouldn't headline the news, because while uncommon for youth to show such wisdom and humanity, they have nothing to lose. This little boy did, but instead of feeling sorry for himself and asking for pity, he saw the suffering of others outside his own life and wanted to make a change.

Heheheh. At least the boy wanted to do some good, more than a lot of people can say.

A good gesture by the kid.

And no, a normal kid wouldn't get this treatment unless he did much better.

Umm. So it is better for someone who has nothing better to do with their life to do it, rather then someone who actually has a life ahead of them and is giving up their free time for this?

    Soppy, sentimental crap.
My school puts together 40+ hampers a year for less fortunate families and we don't make the headlines. Am I being selfish? Maybe, but you're not generous if you let everyone know how generous you are.
